The Metroid Prime series is known for its fast-paced action, with Samus frequently dashing, rolling, and climbing walls. She’s incredibly agile. But with the addition of the bike, VI-O-LA, in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the game offers an entirely new level of speed.
That kind of speed shouldn’t be limited. Most of the game’s functions, including its boost feature, are available when using VI-O-LA in Sol Valley. You can even accelerate faster with a boost mechanic. But don’t you wish for even more speed? The game definitely anticipates that.
What Are VI-O-LA Boost Tanks?
When the green bar on VI-O-LA fills up, you can perform a boost to reach top speed, and you can also slide quickly to take out enemies nearby. However, just one charge might make you save it for a crucial moment.
That’s where VI-O-LA Boost Tanks come in. These tanks add extra charges to your boost capabilities. When the green bar fills up, a small green notch fills to store the charge, allowing you to start filling another green bar afterward. This process continues as long as you have tanks.
Note: While these tanks increase the number of boosts you can perform, they don’t raise VI-O-LA’s maximum speed. You will be able to boost longer, though.
How Many Boost Tanks Are There?
There are a total of three Boost Tanks to find for VI-O-LA, giving you four available boosts in total. All of these tanks are located in Sol Valley, making them easier to find with your boost ability.
Where To Find Every Boost Tank
All Boost Tanks are in Sol Valley. Here are their locations:
Boost Tank #1
The first Boost Tank is on the western edge of Sol Valley, about halfway between Fury Green and Volt Forge. It isn’t physically visible from this spot but appears once you activate the frame.
To access this tank, you need the Fire Shot. Head there after returning the Fire Chip to Mils, which grants you your first Boost Tank.
Boost Tank #2
The second tank is nearly opposite the first, on the eastern side of the map, north of Flare Pool. Like the first, it appears only after activating its frame. To activate it, you’ll need the Ice Shot, which you get from Ice Belt.
Boost Tank #3
The final Boost Tank is directly south of Chrono Tower, close enough to nearly touch the forcefield around it. As with the others, you need to shoot the frame with the correct shot first. For this one, it’s the Thunder Shot, obtained from the Power Core in Volt Forge.
Now that you have all three Boost Tanks, you can dash around Sol Valley at your fastest pace whenever you want.
