A Borderlands game wouldn’t feel complete without the famous one-wheeled robot: Claptrap. This character has been a constant feature throughout the series and has helped players get through each game. In Borderlands 4, his role has expanded, and now he’s giving out some fun side quests.
These quests are scattered across Kairos, so you’ll need to do some exploring to find them. However, these Claptrap side missions won’t be introduced to you until specific points in the story, and there’s no indication when they become available. You might finish the entire game without ever realizing these side quests exist.
Where to Find Every Claptrap Mission
All five Claptrap missions can be found in the three main regions of Kairos: The Fadefields, Carcadia Burn, and the Terminus Range. But, as mentioned earlier, you need to reach certain story points to unlock each one.
All Claptrap Missions in The Fadefields
Once you escape prison, you’ll land on the beaches of the Fadefield region. There are two Claptrap missions here that are easy to complete since they are in the starting area.
-
No Place Like Home
The first Claptrap quest you’ll see is “No Place Like Home.” It’s located in the southwestern part of the starting area, south of the Hungering Plain and just south of the first faction town, The Launchpad in The Howl. The quest begins with Claptrap sitting on a beach by a campfire. To complete it, you’ll need to gather items for Claptrap at the nearby Order Base. You’ll also solve a laser puzzle involving solar panels toward the end of this quest.
-
Sum of His Parts
The second task, “Sum of His Parts,” is found in the southern part of Idolator’s Noose in Fadefields, west of Fortress Indomita. When you arrive, Claptrap isn’t present normally—look instead for a trash bin on the east side of the town containing just his eye, which will talk to you.In this quest, you’ll locate pieces of Claptrap’s body and chassis. Be prepared for some enemies, including a gang and a miniboss, which might make this task a little tougher.

All Claptrap Missions in The Terminus Range
Once you gain access to the Terminus Range, you’ll be able to start and finish two more Claptrap missions. However, both require completing a significant story milestone before they become available.
-
Peak Performance
The “Peak Performance” mission is an obstacle course emphasizing your gliding skills. It is located in the central part of the Terminus Range, at the Shredded Summit in the northern area. You’ll find Claptrap near the entrance, in front of some rocky steps. This quest becomes accessible after completing the main mission “A Lot To Process,” which unlocks the entire map of Kairos. -
Father of the Glide
To find “Father of the Glide,” head northwest from the Stoneblood Forest area past Belton’s Bore, into the western part of the region near Claptrap Aeronautics Academy. This mission is also an obstacle course focusing on improving your gliding and sliding abilities. It begins with challenges that require precise timing, especially as more movement skills are added.
All Claptrap Missions in Carcadia Burn
In Carcadia Burn, you’ll find only one Claptrap side quest.
- Potty Mouth
To start “Potty Mouth,” go to the southern part of Carcadia Burn, specifically Lopside. Inside the small village called Embracer’s Bluff, in the northern section, look for a toilet in the northeastern corner. This is where the mission begins. If you don’t see a marker, you might need to complete the “Siege and Destroy” main story mission first.
During this quest, you’ll be helping Claptrap find his parts, from his body to his chassis. It involves fighting enemies, including a gang and a miniboss, and stands out because it offers more combat and exploration. Additionally, you’ll work with a robot called GenIVIV, especially toward the end, where you’ll face a choice that makes this mission unique compared to the others.
