Reanimal is the newest game from Tarsier Studios, known for creating the Little Nightmares series. Even though it doesn’t carry the Little Nightmares name, it has many similarities, including the game’s love of hiding collectibles in every corner.
One type of collectible is masks, which you can put on the head of either the boy or girl you control. You access them through the “Masks” tab in the main menu. These masks don’t give any special powers or benefits, but walking around with a potato mask on your head is reason enough to hunt down the rest.
All Mask Locations
Most masks are hidden off the main path and require some exploration. If you see a side trail, a small crack in a wall, chances are a mask is waiting there. There are 18 masks in total to find, but the masks included in the Deluxe Edition aren’t counted toward trophies or achievements.
Note: The list of masks provided isn’t in the order you find them, as many are scattered throughout different chapters. Luckily, this guide is organized so you can check off masks you’ve collected and see if any are missing.
Owl Mask – Chapter 1
Just before the scene where you speak to a friend through a grate, find a small hidden door at the end of a winding walkway. Go through, squeeze through a gap in the stone wall, and find the bird mask sitting in a nearby crate.
Brain Mask – Chapter 1
After finishing the puzzle with the rotating cylinder, enter a room with lockers. One locker will release steam; walk through it to enter a bathroom, where you’ll find the squishy brain mask under the sink.
Scarecrow Mask – Chapter 1
When you reach the rail cart, go through the door on your right closest to the camera. Follow the walkway around and find the scarecrow mask sitting in front of a large bomb.
Pig Mask – Chapter 2
In the city, enter a store with two mannequins in the center. Before smashing a window to progress, go behind the counter and squeeze through a gap in the wall. You’ll find the pig mask on a tray next to a table topped with a giant pig head.
Traffic Cone Mask – Chapter 2
Once outside the cinema, follow the small traffic cone with legs that runs out in front of you. Follow it past the bus stop to the bottom right of the road. Break through the wooden planks of a barred door, and bash the creature’s brain to get the game’s traffic cone mask.
Deer Mask – Chapter 3
After climbing a cliff in the large ocean area, reach a yellow flower field. On the left side, find a small clearing with a scarecrow. Hit the scarecrow to make the mask-holder hop off, then defeat it to claim the deer mask.
Potatoes Mask – Chapter 4
After beating children throwing needles at you, crawl through a gap into a corridor. Turn back, run toward the camera, squeeze through a small gap, and pull the bunch of potatoes out of the ground. Yes, that’s the mask.
Sack Mask – Chapter 6
In the beached battleship area, drive to the right before approaching the ship. Find a small gap with three sea mines. Blow them up, then pass through to reach a small beach. The sack mask is in a crate at the back of the beach.
Rabbit Mask – Chapter 7
In the trenches after finding the Sea Mine mask, light all four of the game’s rabbit shrines scattered around. The rabbit mask appears in a crate surrounded by those shrines—best to go back and collect it later if missed.
Frog Mask – Chapter 7
In a small room with an exploding locker, crawl through the gap behind the locker to find the frog mask in a drawer.
Gas Mask – Chapter 8
After completing a puzzle involving shooting a key off a hanging body, pry open the oven to find a critter hiding inside. Return and shoot the critter to earn the gas mask.
This list includes all the masks you can find in Reanimal, not counting those included in the Deluxe Edition. Collecting them unlocks trophies or achievements, like “Beneath the Mask.” Happy hunting!
