Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is making a big return to Zombies with some exciting updates. It brings back the classic Dead Ops Arcade, a top-down twin-stick shooter, and introduces a new mode called Cursed, inspired by old-school challenges. Cursed difficulty removes many modern conveniences, making the game tougher.
However, Cursed mode won’t be available right at launch. Its unlock depends on the entire community’s efforts. This means players will have to work together to unlock it by completing specific goals. Don’t worry if it sounds complicated—this guide will explain what changes come with Cursed and how to unlock it so you can prepare for a nostalgia-filled Zombies experience.
What Is Cursed?
After feedback from previous games, Treyarch designed the Cursed mode to bring Black Ops 7 closer to its roots by adding some key restrictions:
– No loadouts: players start with only a pistol.
– Minimap disabled: no map guidance.
– Point system similar to Black Ops 3: older game feel.
But that’s not all. You can also limit the number of Perk-a-Cola drinks you can buy to four and find Relics that disable ammo caches across the map. More Relics will be released in future seasons to keep the challenge fresh.
In exchange for these tough rules, completing Cursed will earn you “new levels of power and rewards” that boost your overall Tier. So, even though it’s tougher, there are plenty of incentives for players wanting a real test of skill.
When Will Cursed Unlock?
To start playing Cursed, you first need to unlock it. This is a community-wide task—once the entire community completes the main Easter Egg, Cursed will become available for everyone. Judging from past maps, this shouldn’t take long. Expect it to be accessible within the first 24 hours or the first week after launch. You don’t need to complete the Easter Egg yourself—once enough players have, Cursed will be open for all to try out.
