What’s New in the Store with This Patch
New and Returning Legendary Skins
The main highlight of the May 22 patch is the introduction of two new skins for Adam Warlock and Scarlet Witch. Additionally, the update brings back two previous Season 0 skins for a limited time, coinciding with the new content for Season 2.
The following table lists the skins available in the Store after the May 22 update, detailing their prices and release times:
|
Legendary Skin |

These skins not only alter the character appearances but also change sound effects tied to their specific abilities and Ultimates. Each skin comes with a complete bundle, which includes the Costume, an MVP animation, an Emote, a Nameplate, and a Spray that reflects the unique aesthetics of the skin. Players can find the Adam Warlock and Scarlet Witch skins in the “Featured” section of the Store upon their release.
Note that the availability of skins can vary by region. For instance, players in the US can expect the skins to appear as early as May 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM Pacific Time, while players in Japan or Korea will have to wait until May 23, 2025, to see the new costumes.
Event Changes in the Patch
Hellfire Gala Event Extended
One significant change brought by the May 22 update is the extension of the Hellfire Gala: Moments event in Marvel Rivals. The end date of this seasonal event has been pushed to May 30, 2025, allowing players an additional week to earn rewards. With three lengthy Acts to complete, this extension offers a welcome reprieve for players who need more time to finish event missions.
This extension also provides players more time to participate in Act 3’s voting to determine the ‘best dressed’ character at the Krakoa celebration. The winner will be rewarded with a new skin for the 2026 Hellfire Gala.
The extra week allows players more opportunities to claim the main event reward: a free Wolverine Patch costume, which will not be available once the event concludes. You must complete all three Acts of the Gala to earn this exclusive item.
System & Character Adjustments
New Customization Options and Character Fixes
In addition to various bug fixes in the map structure, the May 22 patch also implements system changes to enhance the player experience. Some notable adjustments include:
- The in-game Store’s initial tabs are now set to “New Arrivals” and “Recommended”.
- Players can select Default costume voices in the Audio settings.
- Players can now place up to 5 Sprays on the battlefield concurrently.
These new features come with minor system fixes, addressing issues such as Rank placements in Marvel Rivals‘ Competitive mode, tournament sign-ups, spectator mode, and hero switching. However, the most notable tweaks involve roster adjustments for specific characters, detailed in the table below:
|
Character |
Role |
Patch Changes |
|---|---|---|
|
Doctor Strange |
Vanguard |
A glitch affecting The Human Torch’s primary attack due to Doctor Strange’s Ultimate has been fixed. |
|
Mantis |
Strategist |
Characters stunned by Mantis’ Spore Slumber can no longer remain incapacitated after taking damage. |
|
Emma Frost |
Vanguard |
Texture glitches when Emma Frost shifts into her Diamond Form have been resolved. |
|
Mister Fantastic |
Duelist |
Using Flexible Elongation to pass through Doctor Strange’s portal no longer causes Mister Fantastic to veer off course. |
Moreover, a new change to the console UI from the May 22 patch clarifies the distinction between various in-game items. Players will no longer confuse Chrono Shields and Chrono Shield Cards introduced in the Galacta’s Gift event.
While these updates may appear minor, they were significant enough to merit a dedicated patch. With Season 2.5 on the horizon, these new skins, extended events, and character tweaks will get Marvel Rivals ready for the introduction of Ultron and subsequent gameplay transformations.
