Much of No Man’s Sky revolves around exploring new worlds and making discoveries, but you’ll often find yourself in fights during your journeys. This is especially common when you’re traveling between planets in your spaceship, where Pirates are likely to attack.

Pirates tend to show up unexpectedly, often catching you at inconvenient moments—like when you’re distracted or investigating a space anomaly. Fortunately, defeating Pirates isn’t too hard, and you’ll gain experience from the battle.

### How to Get Pirate Transponders

Pirate Transponders are acquired by destroying Pirate ships. These enemies can usually be taken care of easily, especially if you have support from your Fleet or friends. Sometimes, several Pirates attack at once, but focusing on one enemy at a time generally allows you to handle the situation without too much trouble.

One good way to find Pirates is to accept missions that require you to take out a certain number of them. These missions often guide you to their locations, making it easier to find and fight Pirates rather than searching for them randomly.

### What to Do With Pirate Transponders

You can sell Pirate Transponders for Units at Galactic Trade Terminals. Additionally, these items can be exchanged to increase your reputation with the Mercenaries Guild.

Not every Space Station has a Mercenaries Guild, so if you want to redeem your Transponders there, you might need to collect a number of them before finding a proper location.

To locate a system with a Mercenaries Guild, open your Catalogue and Guide, choose any Journey Milestone, then select the Mercenaries Guild faction at the bottom right of your screen. Pick the Pin Medal option to see nearby systems with Mercenaries Guild presence.
