Abiotic Factor: The Moving Box
The Moving Box is a strange but friendly object found in the Cascade Facility. It looks like a lumpy, gray storage cube with pale human legs, and it moves around the facility collecting dropped items. It doesn’t attack or harm players.
Instead, it acts as a mobile storage unit, picking up unattended items on the ground. Sometimes it even follows you or brings back supplies like barricades and gear, though what it fetches is random and depends on what’s nearby.
What is the Moving Box?
The Moving Box looks like a lumpy, gray storage cube with pale legs. It roams your facility and is completely harmless. Despite its odd appearance, it does not attack or cause damage.
It can follow players through Home World portals and often collects items dropped on the ground, acting as a helpful loot assistant. It sometimes returns with supplies like barricades or discarded gear, but its pickups are random and depend on what items are close by.
How to find the Moving Box
The Moving Box appears randomly in the facility without any specific trigger. It moves around by itself and collects items left on the ground. You’re more likely to see it after dropping or discarding loot, especially during base renovations or when cleaning up your inventory. While it’s helpful, it can sometimes pick up your decorations or empty containers mistakenly.
How to use the Moving Box
The Moving Box will collect items you drop on the ground and will follow you around like a pet. It has its own inventory, which you can access by hovering over it and pressing the interact button to retrieve items like medkits, food, or ammo. To make the most of it:
- Drop consumables or loot in visible, safe spots to increase the chances of collection.
- Avoid leaving valuable build parts unattended, as the box might pick them up unintentionally.
- Walking near the box while it’s holding items may make it follow you, acting as a mobile supply helper.
Although its behavior can be unpredictable, the Moving Box helps manage your inventory, especially during large builds or multiplayer play.
