What Are The Stats In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers?

Like other games, stats in Wuchang determine how strong or durable your character is. However, this game has only eight stats, and they affect gameplay in slightly different ways. Here’s a quick overview of each primary stat:

  • Vitality – Affects your total health points (HP).
  • Endurance – Determines your stamina pool, used for attacks and dodges.
  • Strength – Influences attack power with weapons controlled by Strength.
  • Agility – Affects attack power for weapons that rely on Agility.
  • Magic – Controls your damage dealing with magic-based attacks.
  • Feathering – Determines attack strength when using Feathering damage weapons.
  • Tenacity – Makes your character harder to interrupt during attacks, acting like hyper armor.
  • Spellpower – Increases damage output of your spells.

These stats don’t all influence each other. For example, Vitality only affects HP, while Endurance only impacts Stamina. Both Magic and Feathering are damage types, and your personal stats only affect how much damage you deal with those types, not how much you receive.

Control stats—Strength and Agility—are key for scaling weapon damage. Each weapon favors certain Control stats. Higher control requirements mean more benefit from that stat. For example, axes tend to favor Strength, offering higher damage scaling with that stat. Spears usually scale well with both Strength and Agility, while one-handed swords often favor Agility and sometimes Magic.

Two other stats—Tenacity and Spellpower—are mainly influenced by your gear. Tenacity acts like hyper armor, helping you perform attacks through hits. Spellpower enhances the strength of your spells overall, but not all spells deal magic damage. It increases spell potency, and if a spell also deals Feathering or Magic damage, you get extra damage from those stats.

Note: You cannot see the specific damage numbers for individual spells like you can for weapons. So, it’s hard to measure how your stats influence spell damage directly.

How Do You Increase Stats?

Here’s a key point: leveling up in Wuchang only raises one stat—Madness. With each level, you gain a point that raises your maximum Madness, letting you fight longer before hitting the limit and unleashing your Inner Demon.

To level up, you need to convert your Red Mercury into Red Mercury Essence at a Shrine’s Impetus Repository, then slot it into a node. Doing this increases your level and your Madness cap. Other stats only grow by assigning Red Mercury Essence to specific nodes.

Important: You don’t increase your level just by having Red Mercury Essence. It only happens when you slot it into a node in the Impetus Repository.

Each node provides different effects—passive abilities, new skills, or increased charges for items. Many nodes directly increase your stats. To activate these, you must follow specific paths through the repository, planning your route to maximize your preferred stats.

Some weapons come with stat-increase nodes, like one-handed swords with Magic and Agility upgrades. Picking weapons that complement each other and share Control Values can be very beneficial.

Tip: You can reset all nodes in the Impetus Repository for free if you want to change your build or make a mistake.

Every Status Effect And What It Does

Wuchang has seven status effects, each with a unique impact:

  • Paralysis – Lowers damage dealt by your character and enemies. Lightning causes paralysis to build up.
  • Corruption – Slowly drains your HP over time, affecting both you and enemies.
  • Despair – Causes instant death when faced with, both for you and enemies.
  • Burn – Inflicts fire damage over time and increases the damage you take. Fire causes this to build up.
  • Frostbite – Deals damage and halves your Stamina temporarily.
  • Poise Break – Damages and briefly stuns your character, similar to what happens to enemies.
  • Blight – Continuously reduces your maximum HP without affecting current HP until max HP drops below the current. It also affects enemies.

Many items and armor pieces can increase your resistance to these effects. Always be aware of your environment and enemies to prepare accordingly.

Every Buff And What It Does

There are 14 different buffs in the game, grouped into four categories:

Attack Buffs

  • Fury – Increases damage dealt and taken. You get more Red Mercury when at 90% Madness or above.
  • Attack – Boosts your attack stats (Strength, Agility, Magic, Feathering) and increases the damage of your final attacks.
  • Damage – Specifically increases damage for final attacks.
  • Swiftness – Speeds up your attack animations, allowing you to attack faster.

Final attacks are the last hits in a weapon combo, shown with feathers around the attack.

Recovery Buffs

  • Rejuvenation – Passively restores some HP over time for a short duration.
  • Leech – Drains HP from enemies on attack and transfers some to you. Often gained from the Leech Bone Needle in Tempering.

Defense Buffs

  • Defense – Reduces the damage you take overall.
  • Mitigation – Lessens damage from specific types like slash, Feathering, and lightning.
  • Sturdy – Raises your Tenacity, making you harder to interrupt.
  • Resist – Increases resistance to status effects, slowing their buildup.
  • Harden – Lowers damage from final attacks from all sources.

Resist only slows the build-up of status effects; it doesn’t lessen damage from them.

Stamina And HP Buffs

  • Vitality – Despite the name, it can temporarily boost both your HP and Stamina.
  • Energize – Speeds up stamina recovery.
  • Invigorate – Lowers stamina costs for actions.

Vitality usually increases either your HP or Stamina, not both at the same time.
