Many fans had a theory about one of the main characters in Donkey Kong Bananza, but after some finished the game, it turns out we were mostly mistaken.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was released a while back with Mario Kart World, and now we have a new first-party game to enjoy—Donkey Kong Bananza. This is DK’s first major adventure in over ten years, and it’s as fun as we all hoped, even if most of us guessed wrong about a character’s identity.
Warning: Major spoilers for Donkey Kong Bananza ahead!
Before the game launched, hopeful fans of Donkey Kong Country speculated that the new villain, Void Kong, was actually King K. Rool in disguise. Many pointed to the rings in Void Kong’s eyes, trying to connect the two, but now we know the truth.
No, Void Kong isn’t King K. Rool in disguise like we all thought
The theories were wrong, but you probably won’t mind too much
At the end of Donkey Kong Bananza, DK and Pauline confront Void Kong, who is the final boss. Many expected this to reveal that Void Kong was a transformed King K. Rool, but that’s not accurate at all.
In fact, Void Kong appears to be an entirely different character, not related to King K. Rool in any way. If that disappoints you, I apologize. But there is a significant twist to all our theories about Void Kong being wrong… this is your last chance to back away from spoilers.
Just when it seems like Void Kong might defeat DK and Pauline, a familiar green fist flies in and punches him into the sky, showing that King K. Rool is indeed in Donkey Kong Bananza. While he doesn’t seem connected to Void Kong and his crew, he steps in to become the last villain. So, although we were mistaken, it’s not all bad.
