Fans have been eagerly anticipating Half-Life 3 since the cliffhanger in 2007. Recently, there have been rumors that the sequel is finally in the works, but Valve just made a playful reference to its fans.
To announce Premier Season 3 for Counter-Strike 2, Valve published a blog post titled “Season Two: Episode One,” which sounds a lot like the name of the Half-Life 2 sequel.
“The One Joke That Valve Will Never Give Up”
I quickly checked r/HalfLife, and surprisingly, most fans are accepting the joke. There aren’t any conspiracy boards yet, and only a few seem upset with Valve. Most others are laughing.
“This is actually funny ngl,” u/mjshmjsh77 commented. “That’s pretty funny,” u/TAJack1 added. “Surely they won’t end Season Two: Episode Two with a cliffhanger,” joked u/Gumbalegal.
Good News About the Counter-Strike 2 Update
The title of the blog post is a clever way to get attention, even from those who usually don’t follow Counter-Strike. But the update contains some solid news.
Valve introduced a feature that lets you reverse item trades from the last seven days if you lose access to your account or fall victim to a scam. If you’re tricked out of an expensive item, you can get it back.
In that week-long period, items will be marked as “Trade Protected,” and you won’t be able to use, alter, or trade them again. After you reclaim your items, you won’t be able to trade or use the Community Market for 30 days. Right now, this feature is only available for Counter-Strike 2, but Valve aims to roll it out for other Steam games later.
