A new post-apocalyptic action game is set to release soon on the PS5, and it looks impressive based on the footage we’ve seen so far. Located in South Korea, the retro-inspired Ground Zero involves players exploring Busan after a catastrophic meteor impact.
The game is scheduled to launch in April 2026. Developed by Malformation Games and published by Kwalee, Ground Zero will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC starting April 16. The price has not been announced yet, but it can be added to the wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
A trailer showcases the game’s intense atmosphere, with the link to it here.
The story involves a massive meteor strike that devastates South Korea. Two months after the catastrophe, as the dust and lightning storms begin to settle and the air becomes breathable again, an elite Korean operative and her Canadian partner are dispatched to investigate. What they encounter in the fog-shrouded ruins is far more frightening than they could have imagined.
Ground Zero offers stunning visuals and a variety of environments to explore, including coastal towns, temples, and busy cityscapes. The fight mechanics blend shooting with martial arts combat.
The game evokes nostalgic feelings of retro horror titles with fixed camera angles, pre-rendered backgrounds, puzzles, customizable difficulty settings, and optional tank controls. It will also include unlockables and bonus content such as alternate outfits, additional game modes, and hidden endings.
The PlayStation Store page for Ground Zero does not mention any enhancements specifically for PS5 Pro.
