Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series is well-known for its hidden areas sprinkled throughout various maps, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 continues that tradition. Typically, these “secret areas” become apparent as you explore the maps, making it easy to stumble upon them during your adventures if you keep your eyes peeled. However, a few of these locations are genuinely elusive and will require you to have some knowledge of the map layout to access them unless you accidentally unlock them by chance.
One significant secret area harks back to the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3—the map set in Tokyo. For those who played the original game, this secret area is quite memorable, though you might not recall the exact method to access it. New players might not even realize it exists at first. Uncovering this spot is worth your time, especially since it serves as a competition park, complete with prime locations for chaining together impressive combos, which can help you achieve high scores, aiming for Gold and eventually Platinum once you unlock Pro Goals.

The Giant Neon Skater Sign Unlocks a Secret Area in Tokyo
The Tokyo map in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is relatively compact yet filled to the brim with content. It’s easy to overlook certain elements if you’re not attentive. Besides the elusive secret area, collectibles like the Iron Galaxy logo are hidden in tricky-to-reach spots. The secret area itself is nestled behind a giant neon skater sign located centrally on the map, but gaining access to it entails executing a somewhat challenging trick.
Using Game Mods for Perfect Balance can simplify unlocking the secret area in Tokyo, but it may prevent you from earning specific trophies.
As you start in Tokyo, a large, illuminated sign featuring a skater will catch your eye to your left. You can jump up to this area, but you won’t find it particularly exciting without unlocking the secret zone first. To do this, you need to perform a series of tricky grinds to knock down the neon sign and break through the wall behind it.
Steps to Uncover the Secret Area in Tokyo
Grind Up to the Sign Using Wires and Building Ledges
To reveal the secret area, you must complete a series of complex grinds. Start by performing a boneless on the neon ramp adjacent to the starting area, then grind the rail leading to the wire strung with hanging lights. Grind across the lights to reach the first green neon marquee sign. Next, execute a wall grind to connect to the ledge holding the main skater sign. Hitting it will cause the wires supporting it to snap, dropping the sign and breaking the wall behind it.
Now that you’ve unlocked the secret area, you can skate right through the wall. This new space offers far better options for chaining together combos, allowing for significantly higher scores compared to the main area of the map. The area is filled with plenty of excellent gaps, making it easier to move back and forth, which is your best route for achieving Platinum once you’ve unlocked Pro Goals in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4.
