One of the most iconic Stands from the JoJo universe is Dio’s The World, which is available in “A Universal Time.” However, acquiring it comes with its own unique challenges. This guide will walk you through the process of harnessing time with The World, along with the necessary steps to obtain it.
How to Obtain Shadow DIO
To acquire The World, you initially need to collect Shadow DIO. This Stand embodies Dio’s powers before they were fully unveiled, offering players a fascinating glimpse into its abilities. To obtain Shadow DIO, you must use a Stand Arrow while without a Stand. If you currently hold a Stand, you’ll first need to consult Enrico Pucci at the starting point to dismiss it.
Stand Arrows can be discovered within Meteorites that appear across the game’s landscape, providing a chance to obtain Shadow DIO. Since several Stands can be acquired from these Arrows, be patient, as you may not land Shadow DIO on your first try. You can talk to Pucci to reset your Stand and make another attempt with a new Arrow.
If desired, you may also gather three Shadow DIO Shards through the Ability Banner to craft Shadow DIO. However, it’s advisable to go for the Stand Arrow method since Shadow DIO appears frequently in the Stand Arrow pool.
How to Obtain The World
After acquiring Shadow DIO, your next step is to head to Central Wilds and speak with Him. He will offer you a quest, but only if you have Shadow DIO equipped. The quest will require you to complete the following tasks:
- Inflict 5000 damage on any NPC or player.
- Sustain 5000 damage from any NPC or player.
- Defeat the DIO boss – details on this below.
- Drain 350 health using Shadow DIO’s Bloodsuck ability when you have 80 Heat.
How to Defeat DIO
To summon DIO, you will need to locate a Boss Summoner. There are two available: one is situated in the Infernal Cairn inside the Volcano, and the other is found in The Domain of the Forgotten. You can access the latter by interacting with a sword located in a cave right before reaching the Floating Village. Once at the Boss Summoner, you will require 250,000 UCoins to invoke him.
The battle will be challenging, as he has 2,500 HP and possesses a time-stopping ability. It’s wise to level up before confronting him since DIO is classified as a Level 200 enemy. Having a Level 100 character equipped with strong Stands should suffice to handle this opponent, provided you focus your Stat Points into Attack.
Evolving Shadow DIO
Upon completing the quest, you will receive the Blood Of Joseph item, which you can use to evolve Shadow DIO into The World. Remember, this means you will lose Shadow DIO in the process.
How to Craft The World
If you’re not keen on completing the quest, you can also craft The World through the Crafting and Ability Banner NPCs. You’ll still need Shadow DIO and an additional three The World Shards. These Shards become available from the Ability Banner NPC when the Stand appears on the Banner.
The Banner refreshes every hour, featuring new Stand Shards—make sure to keep an eye out for The World Shards, as rolling once costs 1,000 UShards.
Once you gather all the necessary items, you can find The World within the Crafting NPCs menu to create it, thus skipping the quest entirely. Your Shadow DIO will be replaced with The World during this process as well.

The World is an incredibly strong close-combat Stand that can be challenging to master due to its extensive moveset. It offers thirteen unique moves, but unlocking its full potential will require significant leveling up.
