The Fortnite Outlaw Keycard is a new addition introduced in the v34.10 update, and it has the potential to significantly alter gameplay for those who can enhance it. Upgrading this keycard allows players to enter restricted areas known as the backrooms in the Fortnite Black Markets. Here, you can purchase a variety of powerful weapons and enjoy additional benefits based on your standing with the Outlaws. However, before you can make the most out of the keycard, the Community must unite to stand against Fletcher Kane. Here’s everything you need to know about unlocking the Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite and how to use it afterward.

How to Unlock the Fortnite Outlaw Keycard

To obtain the Common Fortnite Outlaw Keycard, you’ll need to take part in a Community quest that all players are working to complete. This involves robbing vaults and cases to decrease Fletcher Kane’s treasure. There are two main methods to achieve this:

Crack open the vaults located in areas such as Crime City, Lonely Lair, Masked Meadows, and Seaport City.
Rob the Smash N’ Grab Jewelry Stores located in various points of interest.

The Smash N’ Grab Jewelry Stores will have a couple of Alpha Guards for protection, but once they’re taken care of, you can find a safe behind the counter and interact with several cases to steal valuable items. Keep an eye on the Outlaw Keycard section in the Fortnite quest screen to monitor the Community’s progress toward 100% completion.

How to Upgrade the Fortnite Outlaw Keycard

After unlocking the Common Outlaw Keycard, you’ll need to complete additional quests to upgrade it. Besides the initial Community quest, here are the upgrades available:

5 Quests – Uncommon Outlaw Keycard
Grabs access to the Black Market backrooms where you can buy Exotic items, and sometimes meet Fortnite characters.
10 Quests – Rare Outlaw Keycard
Allows opening Outlaw Chests in backrooms, providing free Bars.
15 Quests – Epic Outlaw Keycard
Grants access to premium loadouts for a significant number of Bars from Black Market vendors, including:
- Joss’ Loadout – Holo Twister AR, Pump & Dump, Rocket Drill, Chug Jug, Gold Ammo Boon, and Greed Boon.
- Keisha’s Loadout – Falcon Eye Sniper, Outlaw Shotgun, Gold Splashes, Chug Jug, Gold Ammo Boon, and Greed Boon.
- Skillet’s Loadout – Sticky Grenade Launcher, Mammoth Pistol, Kneecapper, Chug Jug, Gold Ammo Boon, and Greed Boon.
20 Quests – Legendary Outlaw Keycard
When opening Outlaw Chests in backrooms, you’ll also receive a Legendary item and Dill Bit.

How to Use the Fortnite Outlaw Keycard

To utilize the Fortnite Outlaw Keycard, head to one of the Black Markets located near Crime City, Magic Mosses, or Masked Meadows. Look for a locked door at the far edge of the area, as shown in the image above. Once you upgrade to the Uncommon Outlaw Keycard, interact with the door to access the backroom. Inside, you will discover an array of additional weapons, characters, Outlaw Chests, and more.
