The Poleblade of the Bud is a brand-new halberd featured in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring. This weapon, associated with Romina, the Saint of the Bud, is notorious for inflicting scarlet rot on enemies.
After Messmer burned the Church of Bud, Romina remained silent, clutching the buds that would eventually become this weapon, now infused with the power of Scarlet Rot. In this guide, we’ll explain how to obtain the Poleblade of the Bud and how to create a powerful build using this weapon in Elden Ring.
Where to Find the Poleblade of the Bud

You can get the Poleblade of the Bud by trading the Remembrance of the Saint of the Bud with Enia at the Roundtable Hold. This remembrance drops from a legendary boss named Romina, the Saint of the Bud.

Romina resides in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, specifically within the Church of Bud. You’ll need to defeat her to progress through the storyline. This church is located in the western area of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.
To access the Church of the Bud, start at the West Site of Grace in the Rauh Ancient Ruins. Head outside and make your way to the watery section, where you’ll find a small door leading into a cave in the north. Follow the path, avoiding the rot enemies, until you come to a lift.
The lift will take you up toward the exit. Once you emerge from the ruins, you’ll find the entrance to the Church of the Bud.

Romina presents a significant challenge. Her body combines features of a centipede and a scorpion. She wields her poleblade to inflict substantial damage from a distance while also causing Scarlet Rot build-up. Romina also launches explosive projectiles and moves with impressive speed across the arena.

In her second phase, she becomes even more dangerous, unleashing a relentless barrage of explosives around the arena. Upon defeating her, Romina drops 380,000 Runes along with the Remembrance of the Saint of the Bud. Take this remembrance to Enia at the Roundtable Hold to claim the Poleblade of the Bud halberd.

Poleblade of the Bud: Stats and Requirements
The Poleblade of the Bud is a weapon that primarily scales with Dexterity and Arcane, though it also has some strength requirements. To wield it, you’ll need 22 Dexterity, 20 Arcane, and 14 Strength. This halberd has a D scaling in both Arcane and Dexterity, with E scaling in Strength.

As a boss weapon, this halberd cannot be infused with any Ash of War. It features a unique skill called Romina’s Purification, which demands 24 FP to execute. This skill enables players to jump and perform two sweeping attacks while summoning rot butterflies.
Weighing in at 10, the Poleblade of the Bud passively builds up Rot (55). Its base damage is 131, which can be enhanced to 320 through upgrades using Somber Smithing Stones.
Optimal Build for the Poleblade of the Bud
For an effective build, use a fully upgraded Poleblade of the Bud and wield it in both hands. Allocate your attribute points as follows:
- Vigor: 50
- Dexterity: 30
- Arcane: 80
- Faith: 25
For incantations before battle, utilize the Clawmark seal to cast the following spells.
For armor, we recommend the Rakshasa set, obtainable by defeating the boss in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum.
Equip these talismans to boost your weapon’s attack power:
- Two-Handed Sword Talisman: Increases attack power when wielding a sword with two hands.
- Rotten Winged Sword Insignia: Boosts attack power for consecutive hits.
- Shard of Alexander: Enhances attack power of weapon skills.
- Kindred of Rot’s Exultation: Raises attack power when rot effects are present.
With this build, you can quickly inflict Scarlet Rot on your enemies, allowing you to take them down with just a few hits.
