The quirky and highly engaging dating simulator, Date Everything!, is packed with hidden tales and secrets, featuring potential romantic interests that can be found all around your home. Whether you’re keen on dating your toaster, a wall, or even your own existential angst, almost anything goes. However, some of these charming objects aren’t straightforward to reach. Interestingly, despite the main character presumably having lived in this house their entire life, the key to the attic disappeared many years ago. This is unfortunate because there are some great things stored up there.
As I played through Date Everything! for ScreenRant’s review, I encountered the locked door on the second floor. I initially thought it would unlock automatically during the gameplay. When I was romancing Hector, the HVAC system, I reached a point where I needed to access the attic to progress and realized that getting there had been an option all along. Dorian, the door, seems intimidating, but if you speak to him multiple times, he provides hints about where the key might be hidden, along with the possibility of encountering even more dateable characters.
The Attic of Date Everything! Holds a Few Charming Dateables
But Dorian Isn’t Going to Let You In Straight Away
Within the attic, you’ll find several Dateables, although some aren’t thrilled about your lack of visits. For instance, Lady Memoria, who represents memorabilia tucked away in boxes, is understandably grumpy when you finally make her acquaintance. In contrast, Parker Bradley, embodying the board game collection and one of my personal favorites, is overflowing with enthusiasm and joy.
All the Attic Dateables include:
- Artt (Art)
- Hector (HVAC)
- Holly (Holiday Decorations)
- Lady Memoria (Boxes of Memorabilia)
- Monique (Money)
- Parker Bradley (Board Games)
- Prissy Plastique (Fake Plant)
- Sophia (Safe)
- Zoey Bennett (Ghost)
Many players are already viewing this charming game as a strong contender for Game of the Year, and the unique personalities found in the attic certainly contribute to that anticipation. But first, we’ve got to get inside!
How to Locate the Skeleton Key
You Need to Go Down Before You Can Go Up
On your initial visit to the locked door, Dorian informs you that he won’t let you pass without a key, and that you were the one who misplaced it long ago. If you talk to Dorian again on a different day, he provides further hints about where the key might be located. The key, as it turns out, is hidden in a secret crawlspace beneath the first floor.
Head back to the furnace room off the office and click on the rug on the floor. Doing this will cause the rug to slide aside, revealing a trap door that leads down to a small crawlspace with a ladder.
If you can’t descend the ladder into the crawlspace, make sure you aren’t wearing your glasses.
This crawlspace is home to a few Dateables, including a rather rad time capsule representing the 1980s, a somewhat eerie mousetrap, and a lonely key resting on the dirt floor. Keith, the skeleton key, does come with a Content Aware trigger warning; however, whether or not you choose to engage with his backstory, he will agree to unlock the attic door.
After your initial conversation with Bodhi, the time capsule, he will no longer be in the crawlspace but will instead be back on the arm of the sofa.
Opening the Attic Door Unveils a Fascinating Relationship
Dorian and Keith Share Quite the Backstory
Once Keith and Dorian reunite at the attic door, it’s immediately clear there’s a history between them. Without revealing any spoilers, the dialogue between them, combined with the earlier trigger warning regarding Keith, indicates that things didn’t go smoothly for this typical pair, yet they have become good friends now.
Accessing the attic opens up numerous new stories and adventures, allowing you to perceive your house in an entirely different way. With over 100 Dateables waiting to be discovered, it might not seem like much at first, but each plays a vital role. Don’t forget to venture into the attic at nighttime for a chance to encounter a friendly ghost in Date Everything!
