Unlocking Nickit in Pokémon Go's Deep Depths Event

This week, Pokemon Go is introducing the exciting new Deep Depths Event, featuring its own set of special perks and surprises. Among these, players will have the chance to encounter two brand-new Pokemon for the first time.

Running for a total of six days, this event kicks off on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10 AM local time, and lasts until Monday, March 24, 2025, at 8 PM local time. During this period, numerous changes will take place within the game, so be sure to check our complete guide for details.

New Pokemon: Nickit and Thievul

Starting with the Deep Depths Event, Nickit and its evolution, Thievul, will become available. You can find Nickit in Eggs, as a reward encounter, and in the wild throughout the event.

To evolve Nickit into Thievul, you’ll need 50 Nickit Candy, which can be earned by catching, hatching, or transferring Nickit or Thievul.

Exclusive Bonuses

During the Deep Depths Event, there will be two exciting bonuses to enjoy:

Eggs placed in Incubators will require half the normal Hatch Distance during the event.
The chances of encountering a Shiny Clauncher will be significantly increased.

Event Eggs

During the event, 7 km Eggs will hatch different Pokemon than usual. Make sure to collect and hatch as many as possible to potentially get:

Nickit
Pawniard
Galarian Corsola
Clauncher

Clauncher hatched during this event will have better chances of being Shiny.

Wild Encounters During the Event

There will be a variety of Pokemon available in the wild, different from what you usually encounter. Be sure to log in during the event to find:

Research Opportunities During the Event

Free Timed Research

During the event, players who log into Pokemon Go will receive free Timed Research. Complete the associated tasks by the end of the Deep Depths Event to earn:

One Mysterious Component
Ten Kubfu Candy
Encounters with event-themed Pokemon
Double the Stardust for catching Pokemon (after finishing all Timed Research tasks)

Paid Timed Research

Additionally, there will be a $2.00 USD Paid Timed Research option available in the Pokemon Go shop, offering extra tasks. Completing these tasks rewards players with:

Two Super Incubators
Encounters with Clauncher and Nickit
One Star Piece

Event Field Research Tasks

Players can acquire Event Field Research Tasks by spinning PokeStops during the event. Be sure to complete these tasks for additional encounters with event-themed Pokemon.

Collection Challenges

Throughout the event, Collection Challenges will be available, requiring players to catch and evolve specific event-themed Pokemon. Completing these challenges will grant you event-themed Pokemon encounters, XP, and Stardust.
