In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you’ll encounter various interactive elements scattered throughout the map. However, the game doesn’t always clarify what these items are or their functions. One such object is the Indulgence Chest, marked by a small yellow icon on the map.
Interacting with these chests can cost a significant amount of Groschen, sometimes in the thousands, which you may not always have. Therefore, it’s essential to comprehend the role of Indulgence Chests before opting to engage with them.
Where To Find Indulgence Chests
Indulgence Chests can be found in most towns, but they are located in specific areas. If you visit scribes or churches, you’ll often find these chests positioned outside their entrances.
They resemble small post boxes—small boxes mounted on sticks, typically located right outside the doors of places deemed sacred.
Once you locate an Indulgence Chest (without needing to interact with it), its location will be marked on your map for easy return.
Understanding Indulgence Chests
Indulgence Chests are straightforward. By interacting with them, you can deposit money, which is then provided to the clergy and religious leaders in the community.
Contributing funds increases your reputation within the area, particularly with the church and its officials, making this act beneficial prior to or during missions involving religious figures.
This is frequently the case in Kuttenberg, where you can find a church with an Indulgence Chest in the northwestern part of town. Feel free to contribute whenever necessary.
Because donations can be hefty, only contribute to an Indulgence Chest when you genuinely need to bolster your reputation in the area.
The amount you need to deposit may vary based on your past actions in the area. If you’ve committed various offenses, like theft or violence, the church will demand a higher sum. On my last visit, I was asked for nearly 4000 Groschen.
