The base version of The Sims 4 and some of its downloadable content have hidden worlds that you can discover. These secret areas provide new neighborhoods where your characters can live or explore. Even if you haven’t purchased extra Game Packs, there are multiple hidden locations you can find. Many players may not realize these areas exist unless they actively look for clues or search specifically.
Try exploring different neighborhoods to gather unique collectibles and find empty spots to build or visit. Using certain cheat codes or tricks can help reveal some of these hidden worlds. Some clues lead to mysterious locations within the game that are worth investigating. Keep in mind, many of these secret areas require you to have specific DLCs installed, but some are accessible right from the start.
Sylvan Glade (Base Game)
Find the Hidden Tree to Explore a Lovely Landscape
Sylvan Glade can be reached by interacting repeatedly with a special tree in Willow Creek. Located near the Crick Cabana lot, this tree stands out among glowing mushrooms by a canal. Initially, when Sims approach, the only option is to “View” the tree. Keep selecting this option until a new interaction appears, which will reveal a secret door.
If you own the Spa Day pack, you can also meditate in front of the tree to access the area without solving riddles. Once the relationship with the tree is built, your Sim will be prompted to water, talk to, and compliment its leaves. After a while, a door opens, leading to a passage where your Sim encounters questions. Answering these questions correctly transports them to Sylvan Glade, a place with rare plants and fish like the unique Treefish. It’s an ideal spot to gather resources and enjoy nature without needing the extra packs.
You can use cheat commands (press Ctrl + C on PC and type “testingcheats true” and “bb.enablefreebuild”) to build freely in the area and add more fun to your exploration.
The Forgotten Grotto (Base Game)
An Underground Oasis Hidden in Oasis Springs
This secret location is accessed via the abandoned mine in Oasis Springs. The entrance is near the Affluista Mansion. To reach it, your Sim needs a high Handiness skill to break through wooden boards blocking the mine entrance. Train your Sim by doing home repairs, reading books, or upgrading appliances.
Once inside, you’ll face prompts that require choosing the right responses to proceed. Correct answers allow your Sim to progress deeper into the mine and eventually reach the Grotto. Inside, there are rare items such as special plants, minerals, and food ingredients like onions and mushrooms. Note that building isn’t allowed here, but it’s a great spot for discovery.
The Deep Woods in Granite Falls (Outdoor Retreat)
A Hidden Wilderness Area in the Forest
In the Granite Falls vacation world, near a cabin, you’ll find a hole next to a shrub that triggers a series of prompts to enter the Deep Woods. This area is also called The Hermit’s House, where a unique NPC offers gardening tips and rare collectibles, such as special flowers and insects like will-o-wisps and dragonflies. It’s a perfect place for outdoor adventures and rare finds.
Planet Sixam (Get to Work Pack)
Explore an Alien World
With the Get to Work expansion, you can access a secret alien planet called Sixam. To get there, your Scientist Sims need a Wormhole Generator installed on their rocket. Using the generator, you can create a wormhole that transports your Sim to Sixam, where aliens host parties and you can collect rare elements, metals, and geodes. Having a Scientist with the Rocket Scientist career and specific high-tech gear makes reaching Sixam easier.
Cave of Sulani (Island Living Pack)
Discover a Hidden Cave on Sulani
This area is part of the Island Living expansion. To find it, simply travel to Sulani and visit the main island. Enter the only major cave, which doesn’t require any special tricks to access, and explore. Inside, you might find rare items linked to the island’s nature, such as mermaid kelp used for transforming your Sims into mermaids. It’s a great spot for outdoor activities and resource gathering.
The Magic Realm (Realm of Magic Pack)
A Mystical Hidden World
This world is exclusive to those who own the Realm of Magic pack. To reach it, go to Glimmerbrook, behind the main lot, and follow the trail to a waterfall. Walking through the portal near the water transports you to the Magic Realm, a land filled with magic and mysterious adventures.
Mt. Komorebi’s Upper Mountain (Snowy Escape)
An Exclusive Mountain Resort
In the Snowy Escape expansion, travel to the bathhouse in the Yukimatsu district of Mt. Komorebi. Use a phone to start the “Mountain Excursion” social event, which takes you up the mountain. The final destination is the hidden resort area at the top, accessible through a series of steps and exploring the mountain landscape. This location offers stunning views and secrets for adventurous players.
Discovering these hidden worlds adds adventure and variety to your gameplay. Whether you want rare collectibles, new experiences, or just a change of scenery, these secret areas are worth exploring for every Sims 4 fan.
