Collecting Poppy Seeds in Hades 2 is key to growing Poppies back in the Crossroads. To find these seeds, you first need to reach the deepest part of the Underworld, the last layer of Tartarus. Only then will you have a chance to discover a digging spot for the seeds. It’s quite tricky since the process can be slow and frustrating, especially because you need many Poppy Seeds to unlock the best aspects for the Argent Skull and other upgrades.
To improve your chances of finding Poppy Seeds, you should avoid certain exits that follow the main path marked with numbers, known as the Express Route. Additionally, choosing Hecuba as your Hades 2 Companion can help. By delaying your trip to Charon’s shop before facing Chronos, you’ll go through more chambers, increasing the number of opportunities to find digging spots for Poppy Seeds. Keep in mind, though, this tactic can lead to more damage encounters, so only do it if you’re confident in your skills and build.
Hecuba’s perk makes digging spots appear more often in all regions, boosting your chances of collecting enough Poppy Seeds. Sometimes, you may even find multiple seeds in a single run, which you can plant in the Crossroads garden near Odysseus. Be prepared, as each seed takes around 41 encounters—almost an entire run—to grow into a Poppy. Since you need five Poppies to unlock the coveted Persephone Aspect for the Argent Skull, it can be a lengthy grind.
Once you get a Poppy Seed, plant it in the garden. Besides helping you gather Seeds, Hecuba also makes it easier to obtain other items like the Hades 2 Thalamus and Mandrake Root, especially if you’re taking the Surface route.
