The excitement of Balatro often starts with achieving your first victory, but unlocking all the Decks enhances your gameplay experience, letting you enjoy more diverse runs and improve your high scores. While it can be challenging to unlock these Decks through normal gameplay, doing so introduces exciting new modifiers and opens up opportunities for crafting intricate strategies.

While there’s a shortcut to unlock all the Decks, Jokers, Editions, and other collectibles, using this method will disable achievements for that profile. It’s more rewarding to gradually unlock everything on your main profile before creating a second one to experiment freely.

Updated by Tom Hopkins on February 1, 2025: Each deck offers unique strategies. If you’re playing with a deck that has just two suits, focus on tactics that leverage that setup. With newly themed cards available, your decks can also take on a more distinctive appearance.

Every Deck and How to Unlock It

There are currently 15 Decks in Balatro, each presenting unique challenges for players aiming to unlock them all. The effort is worth it, as higher-level Decks grant special advantages at the beginning of each run.

Using the quick method to unlock all the Decks will disable achievements on that profile unless you reset it.

If you want to unlock all the Decks quickly, click on your profile name at the bottom left and then select ‘Unlock All’ under ‘Reset Profile.’

Deck Name	Unlock Condition	Attributes	Tips
Red	Base Deck.	Gain one Discard for the run.	If you’re not utilizing your extra discards, take advantage of Jokers that grant Gold or Score for unused Jokers.
Blue	Discover 20 items.	Gain one Hand for the run.	An additional hand allows you to leverage Jokers that increase your Mult for the number of hands played.
Yellow	Discover 50 items.	Start with $10 extra at the beginning of a new run.	It’s best to use this money early to acquire beneficial Jokers for a solid start.
Green	Discover 75 items.	At the end of each Round, earn $2 for each remaining Hand and $1 for each leftover Discard. This does not generate interest.	This is useful only if you unlock strong early Jokers and can quickly clear Blinds.
Black	Discover 100 items.	Gain one additional Joker slot but lose one Hand each round.	This is advantageous later in Blinds if you manage to get good Jokers, although you may find it tough early on.
Magic	Win a run with Red.	Start your run with a Crystal Ball Voucher and two copies of The Fool.	Make sure to open early Arcane packs and use the Fool cards to duplicate strong cards you acquire.
Nebula	Win a run with Blue.	Start with the Telescope Voucher. You’ll lose a consumable slot.	Focus on a specific hand from the onset to maximize the effect of the Voucher.
Ghost	Win a run with Yellow.	Begin with a Hex card, and there’s a chance to find Spectral cards in the shop.	This relies more on luck; you’ll need to hope for favorable Spectral cards.
Abandoned	Win a run with Green.	Your run will start without any Face Cards in your deck.	Avoid any face card-focused Jokers during this run.
Checkered	Win a run with Black.	Your deck will contain 26 Spades and 26 Hearts for a new run.	This setup is great for focusing on flushes, so prioritize obtaining those.
Zodiac	Win a run with at least Red Stake difficulty.	Your deck will include Tarot Merchant, Planet Merchant, and Overstock.	Not much you can do apart from hoping for good shop cards.
Painted	Win a run with at least Green Stake difficulty.	Gain two extra hand sizes but lose one Joker slot.	Concentrate on achieving straights and flushes.
Anaglyph	Win a run with at least Black Stake difficulty.	Receive a Double Tag after defeating each Boss Blind.	Your success here relies on the usefulness of the tags you receive.
Plasma	Win a run with at least Blue Stake difficulty.	Your score will balance Chips and Mult based on the hand played, but the Base Blinds will be twice the usual size.	Focus on building your chips or mult for maximum impact.
Erratic	Win a run with at least Orange Stake difficulty.	All Ranks and Suits in the deck will be randomized.	This provides a fun twist, though it doesn’t significantly change the gameplay.

Whether you decide to unlock each Deck gradually or dive in all at once, each new set of cards can lead you to advanced strategies. Like many roguelite games, experimentation is key to pushing the limits of what you can achieve within the game’s mechanics.
