In Monster Hunter Wilds, every point in your hunter’s stats counts. As you delve deeper into the game’s late stages, you’ll want to maximize the effectiveness of every item in your arsenal.
One effective way to enhance your hunter’s capabilities is by using the armorcharm and powercharm. These charms, stored in your item pouch, boost your attack and defense instantly. If you’re eager for a quick power increase, keep reading to learn how to obtain both the armorcharm and powercharm in Monster Hunter Wilds.
How to Obtain the Powercharm
After finishing the main storyline, you’ll need to raise your Hunter Rank until you unlock Chapter 4-2: Lurking Shadows. This chapter introduces the Wounded Hollow, an area where you can hunt monsters similar to the arena in Monster Hunter World. Once you complete Lurking Shadows, you can find Cobb, an NPC in Suja, Peaks of Accord, who will offer you an optional quest called Secure Wounded Hollow. After completing this quest, you’ll receive the powercharm as a reward.
The quest involves taking down two Hirabami simultaneously in the Wounded Hollow. It’s best to focus on one Hirabami at a time, so eliminate the first one before turning your attention to the second. To help distinguish between them during the battle, consider marking one with a paintball. Also, remember that there’s a lever in the center of the arena to raise a gate, giving you a chance to regroup if needed.
After earning the powercharm, head to your tent and place it in your item pouch. While you have it, your overall strength will receive a boost of 19 points.
How to Obtain the Armorcharm
To get the armorcharm, you’ll first need to finish the main storyline, unlock the Wounded Hollow, and complete Cobb’s Secure the Wounded Hollow quest.
Following your assistance to Cobb, another guild member named Rex will give you an optional quest in Suja, Peaks of Accord titled As Gatekeepers. This quest involves hunting two Ajarakan in the Wounded Hollow simultaneously.
Fighting the Ajarakan twins is noticeably tougher than the Hirabami duo from the previous quest. Use the center gate strategically to keep them apart; otherwise, you’ll be under constant attack with little opportunity to strike back.
Be wary of Ajarakan’s powerbomb attack, where it spins before jumping and crashing down like a meteor. Stay defensive and take your time, and you’ll eventually bring these formidable foes down.
After you complete this challenge and return to Rex, he will reward you with the armorcharm. Make sure to move it to your item pouch promptly; it will enhance your armor rating by 12 points as long as you carry it.
What About the Armortalon and Powertalon?
In Monster Hunter World, you eventually unlock the ability to upgrade the armorcharm and powercharm into the armortalon and powertalon, further boosting your fighting capabilities. If Monster Hunter Wilds introduces similar upgrades, they haven’t been found yet.
This guide will be updated should any new upgrade paths for these charms be discovered.
