Miquella’s Great Rune is a powerful relic left behind by Miquella, but it’s currently powerless and can only be utilized to resist charms. Unlike other Great Runes in Elden Ring, this one can’t be activated at any towers.
To acquire this unique rune, you’ll need to embark on a challenging adventure and face one of the most formidable bosses in Elden Ring. We’re here to guide you through the process of obtaining Miquella’s Rune and demonstrate how it can help you navigate one of the toughest encounters in the game.
Finding Miquella’s Great Rune

You can find Miquella’s Rune after defeating the Scadutree Avatar located at the Scadutree Base, situated to the northwest of the Shadow Keep. This location is entirely optional.
To reach the Scadutree Avatar, start from the Church District entrance, which is south of Shadow Keep. As you make your way through this waterlogged area, jump across the rooftops and navigate the rafters to survive.
At the northern end of the Church District, ascend the ladder and activate the lever to drain the water.

Next, navigate through the ledges and wooden planks down to the base of the district.

Continue heading north until you encounter a magical enemy.

Turn right to enter the altar room. Rather than climbing the stairs, open the small door on the ground level to reach the elevator leading to the Scadutree base.

Proceed through the tunnel and across the hanging bridge. Make sure to rest at the Site of Grace, as a challenging boss awaits you!

Taking Down the Scadutree Avatar

The Scadutree Avatar is an optional boss for a good reason. This encounter features three phases, each with a full health bar. The first phase resembles any typical boss match. The Scadutree Avatar uses ranged attacks and its thorns to wear down your health.
Additionally, expect head slams and limb swipes. These actions are relatively easy to evade, and focusing on its head can yield significant damage. Once the Scadutree Avatar is defeated, take a moment to replenish your health and FP.
In the following phase, the boss will charge at you multiple times, becoming more erratic and capable of dealing substantial damage. Stick to the strategy of looking for your moment and targeting its head.

Be on guard for its homing magic attacks. Utilize the lock-on feature to keep an eye on the boss’s head and anticipate incoming strikes. Target the head to maximize your damage output.
After you defeat the Scadutree Avatar a second time, it will return, angrier than before. This time, it will employ an explosive attack that can take you out instantly. Make sure to run as far as you can and dodge to the right to evade the incoming threat.

This final phase is exceptionally challenging and will test all your skills. Avoid dying at all costs, as you’ll have to restart the fight. Upon victory, the boss will drop Miquella’s Rune along with a remembrance.
Using Miquella’s Great Rune

Unlike other Great Runes in Elden Ring, Miquella’s Rune cannot be activated at towers. Discarded by Miquella, it currently possesses no power.

The sole advantage of this item is its ability to resist charm effects. This feature is vital during your battle with the final boss in Shadow of the Erdtree, Promised Consort Radahn. In his second phase, Radahn uses a grab attack that charms players, indicated by a crown appearing on your character’s head.
If you get grabbed again while charmed, it’s an instant kill. Use Miquella’s Great Rune to remove the charm and ensure your survival. You can activate this ability as many times as necessary.
That’s all there is to Miquella’s Great Rune in the game—it offers no other functionalities.
