Depending on what you do in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you can unlock different endings that determine the future of Hallownest. Similar to the original Hollow Knight, the ending you get depends on the quests you complete, the characters you interact with, and the goals you accomplish before the game ends.
Most of the endings are tied to completing specific tasks, encouraging thorough exploration. For example, some rare endings might require you to finish all Delivery quests or defeat every optional boss. Achieving certain endings could even mean starting a new game to see all possible outcomes, since it’s hard to unlock them all in one run.
How Many Endings Are There in Hollow Knight: Silksong?
There are five different endings in Silksong, each unlocked after defeating one of the final bosses during the game’s story acts. Each ending is associated with its own achievement or trophy, making them worth aiming for if you want to fully complete the game.
Some endings require reaching hidden content, like Act 3, especially to unlock the “True” ending. You’ll find both good and bad endings, along with some unexpected ones, such as an “Extra” ending. Please note: spoilers ahead about the endings of Silksong.
Here are the endings, along with what kind they are:
- Weaver Queen – “Normal” Ending
- Twisted Child – “Cursed” Ending
- Snared Silk – “Bad” Ending
- Sister of the Void – “True” Ending
- Passing of the Age – “Extra” Ending
These endings share similar requirements, with slight differences. If you don’t meet the specific conditions for one ending, you’ll end up with another, and missing certain ones can prevent you from seeing special scenes or messages.
How to Unlock the Weaver Queen Ending
Defeat Grand Mother Silk and bind her at the end of Act 2 to unlock the “Normal” or Weaver Queen ending. To reach her, you need to use the Threefold Melody to open the elevator in the Cogwork Core. Then, you fight Lace again—one of the hardest bosses in Silksong. Be prepared for that fight.
Once you defeat her, choose the option to “Bind” Grand Mother Silk. This will trap her in silk along with the Citadel, and a cutscene will play as she begins transforming.
How to Unlock the Twisted Child Ending
The “Cursed” ending happens when Hornet becomes cursed by completing a side quest called “Rite of the Pollip.” You must gather Pollip Hearts, find the Twisted Bud in Bilewater, and give it to Greyroot in Shellwood. Agreeing to help Greyroot and starting the “Rite of Rebirth” wish will curse Hornet.
To see this ending, proceed through the game without curing the curse before fighting Grand Mother Silk. The curse changes Hornet’s weapon, indicating a lingering curse. You can cure Hornet later, but if you do before finishing this fight, you’ll miss the Twisted Child ending.
How to Get the Snared Silk Ending
This is generally considered the “bad” ending, but it actually opens the door to Act 3, continuing the story. To unlock it, you need to complete almost all the side quests called “Wishes” and craft a special artifact called the Needolin using specific items.
When you defeat Grand Mother Silk with the Needolin in your inventory, a new option called “Needolin” appears during the fight. Selecting this will result in the Snared Silk ending and unlock “The Abyss,” which is a hidden third act.
How to Unlock the Sister of the Void Ending
This ending is only available after completing Act 3. First, you must unlock the Snared Silk ending. Then, in Act 3, you have to complete specific objectives, defeating major bosses and reaching certain areas. The final step involves defeating The Lost Lace in the Abyss after completing a ritual and reaching deeper areas.
This ending reveals a more intense, confronting story and is the culmination of many prior steps.
How to Unlock the Passing of the Age Ending
The ultimate “Extra” ending appears in Act 3 after engaging in a special quest involving the NPC Fleamaster in the Putrified Ducts, once you reach The Abyss.
Begin by talking to Fleamaster to start the “Ecstasy of the End” wish, which involves navigating through special platforms and reaching areas filled with mushrooms. Interacting with Mister Mushroom, who appears across different locations, is part of this quest.
After completing these steps and seeing Mister Mushroom several times, talk to him at the top of the Choral Chambers, then defeat the final boss of Act 3. This ending shows a “To Be Continued” message, hinting that there’s even more story ahead.
These endings, each with unique requirements, make Silksong an enriching and replayable game. Missing some steps can lock you out of certain endings, so pay close attention to your side quests and choices as you progress!
