The Speaking With The Land Trophy is likely the most difficult one to unlock in Ghost of Yotei. It’s not really about how hard the task is to perform, but because the instructions are pretty vague. The game tells you to bow or play your shamisen at ten “special places” around Ezo, but it doesn’t give much detail about what exactly this means.
Fortunately, the clues are straightforward. These locations are marked by small wooden signs that show a samurai bowing. Each sign has a bow on it, and playing your shamisen at any of these spots will count toward the trophy. There is no in-game checklist, and they won’t show up on your map after you’ve found them.
You can track your progress using the trophy itself, which will fill from zero to ten as you discover each location. Once you’ve unlocked the entire map, finding these spots doesn’t take long. Now, let’s go over where to find each one.
Yotei Grasslands – Southern Coast
The first spot is near the water that extends into the shore of the Southern Coast in the Yotei Grasslands.
Yotei Grasslands – Lake Shikotsu
This location is on the eastern edge of Lake Shikotsu, about halfway down. It’s close to your home, so it should be quick to get.
Yotei Grasslands – Sarubetsu River Altar
Located where the Sarubetsu River splits into a Y shape, this sign is under a yellow tree. It’s also near the Pit of Reflection.
Ishikari Plain – Near Rumoi River
South of Rumoi River (specifically between the words “Rumoi” and “River” on the map), you’ll find this sign in a field of purple flowers next to a thin tree.
Ishikari Plain – Ishikari River
On the riverbank where the Ishikari River splits into a Y, there’s a small patch of dry land with the sign.
Tokachi Range – Huranui’s Rest Inn
This location is just behind Huranui’s Rest Inn at another Y-split in the river. If you fast travel to the inn and turn around, you’ll see it after a few steps.
Tokachi Range – Amber Respite Shrine
At the entrance of this shrine, in the northwest corner of the range, there’s a raised flat rock in the lake facing the waterfall. The sign is there.
Nayoro Wilds – Cukpet Hills
In a campsite by the river you started on, you’ll find this sign along the riverbank. It is directly south once you arrive in the area.
Teshio Ridge – Abandoned Village
On a raised rock outside the Abandoned Village north of Sakura Woods, this sign overlooks the lake. You’ll need to climb the looping path to reach it.
Oshima Coast – Seijani Temple
As you go into Seijani Temple, continue forward to the main building, then turn left toward the waterfall. The sign is at the water’s edge, and that marks the last “special place” needed to earn the trophy.
