Where Winds Meet offers a lot of free content, which can make it hard to see how the game makes money. Unless you’re spending thousands on ships, it mostly doesn’t ask for your cash. Most free-to-play games block some features behind a stamina system, encouraging players to pay to refill energy faster.
In this game, there is a stamina system, but it’s so limited that many players might not even notice it. Most of the game content doesn’t rely on it, so if you’re just playing through once without grinding for loot, you probably won’t encounter it at all.
What Is Stamina?
Instead of calling it Stamina, the game uses the term Endurance for a similar purpose — to prevent confusion. This meter is used for sprinting, dodging, and other actions.
There are actually two stamina-related meters in Where Winds Meet, and only one of them is called Stamina. They serve entirely different functions, making it unlikely you’ll ever run low on either. These are Challenge Energy and Crafting Stamina.
Challenge Energy
You’ll see Challenge Energy most often, displayed in the top right corner when you open the map. It’s used for replaying open-world activities, like Campaigns, Outposts, and multiplayer Sword Trials.
The purpose of Challenge Energy is to help you grind for high-level gear. Each time you complete an Outpost or Campaign, a chest appears. You use Challenge Energy to open these chests, and you can earn double or even triple rewards if you spend more Challenge Energy. However, the ability to claim extra rewards depends on your Solo Mode level, so make sure your Solo Mode is high enough before taking on tough missions.
In Sword Trials — multiplayer boss battles with friends — you also spend Challenge Energy to earn rewards at the end.
Crafting Stamina
This stamina type is used specifically for crafting. That includes cooking food, forging weapons, making ammo, and building structures. Most craftable items only take about ten Stamina points, and many building materials cost even less. With a total pool of 2,500 points, you probably won’t run out too quickly.
How to Refill Stamina
Both Challenge Energy and Crafting Stamina recover naturally, but they do so differently. Neither can be refilled with real money.
- Challenge Energy:** Recovers one point every eight minutes, up to the maximum. You can also instantly restore 60 points by using an item called Pillow Powder, which you earn by leveling up Solo Mode through Breakthroughs.
- Crafting Stamina: Restores 450 points automatically once daily at reset, with no way to speed up the process.
Pillow Powder is earned by progressing in Solo Mode, especially through Breakthroughs, and some can be obtained from the Battle Pass. However, it’s a limited resource.
How to Increase Stamina
Only Challenge Energy can be increased. The cap is currently at 600 points, which you reach at Solo Mode Level 7. You increase Challenge Energy by performing Breakthroughs — advancing to the next Solo Mode level after meeting certain conditions. Future updates might raise this limit further, but for now, that’s the only way to boost Challenge Energy. Crafting Stamina, on the other hand, is fixed at 2,500 points.
