Arc Raiders Frostbite is a new survival feature added in the latest winter update. It makes it more challenging to stay alive outdoors on specially modified maps. If you pick a Cold Snap map, you’ll notice snow and ice have changed the environment. Spending too much time outside will gradually cause damage to your health.
In these maps, you’ll need to monitor the temperature just as closely as fighting raiders and robots. If you want to collect candleberries, which only grow in cold environments, you’ll have to risk exposure. Here’s what to watch for and tips to stay safe.
Understanding Frostbite in Arc Raiders
Frostbite appears on maps like Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, and The Blue Gate. It activates after you’ve been outside long enough and will slowly reduce your health until you find shelter indoors.
How Frostbite Works
The cold effect begins to spread across your screen slowly when you’re exposed outdoors, and your health will start to decline gradually. It’s not extremely fast, but it’s enough to cause problems if ignored. Getting into a fight while frostbitten can be even more dangerous.
How to Remove Frostbite
The good news is, simply entering any building will end the frostbite effect. Even a fairly open storage depot will do. Just stay inside for a few seconds, and the frostbite warning will disappear. Planning your route to include shelter can help you avoid taking too much cold damage. Remember to carry plenty of bandages — cold damage can use up supplies fast.
Strategic Tips
If you’re heading into a Cold Snap match, pack extra healing items for yourself and your team. Because frostbite makes you more vulnerable to damage, you’ll need to heal more often and patch up quickly. Waiting for an elevator or a safe spot becomes tricky if no shelter is nearby while enemies attack.
Frostbite only happens on Cold Snap maps—specifically Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, and The Blue Gate. When the update is active, the condition is part of the game’s Cold Snap status.
Stay prepared and keep shelter in mind when exploring cold environments to stay safe and keep your team alive.
