In Season 4 of Marvel Rivals, Team-Ups are changing once again to shake up the game. Characters are shifting between different team synergies to inspire players to try new combinations. There are fewer updates this season, but the ones that are happening are very significant. They give some heroes new abilities that can change how they perform in matches.
This season introduces two new heroes, Daredevil and Angela. Both will have new Team-Ups for players to explore and test. Every character in the game has at least one Team-Up, but older combinations are often replaced as the game balance is fine-tuned through seasonal updates.
What Team-Up Abilities Are Disappearing?
One movement-based Team-Up, known as Dimensional Shortcut (featuring Black Panther and Magik), is being removed this season—something that hasn’t happened since Marvel Rivals launched in December 2024. This Team-Up was unique because it involved just two characters, impacting how they used Magik’s portals to rewind time on the battlefield. Psylocke’s role in that Team-Up was eliminated in Season 2, and now it seems the ability for Black Panther is gone too.
Fortunately, both Black Panther and Magik will still have other Team-Ups in Season 4, and Psylocke remains connected through another synergy with Emma Frost and Magneto. The developers are streamlining some Team-Ups by adding more characters into few special synergies and removing lesser-used ones.
New Team-Ups in Season 4
There are two fresh Team-Ups debuting this season:
-
Asgardians (Angela and Thor): When paired, Angela boosts Thor’s power by allowing him to throw a Thunder Spear at enemies, which restores his special Thor Force resource for each hit. The spear also causes an explosion, and Thor can leap to the impact point for additional damage. An extra bonus is that Angela gains 100 extra health when teamed with Thor, which helps her stay alive longer in battle.
-
Vanguard Duo (Hulk and Black Panther): These two tank heroes form a rare partnership. When Black Panther’s health drops to 100, he triggers a Gamma Shield that blocks all incoming attacks briefly, thanks to Hulk’s influence. Magik also arrives in Season 4 with a new ability called Chain of Cyttorak, which links two enemies together, making them easier to control and restricts their movement.
These new abilities give Black Panther and Magik better ways to excel in fights, especially with Angela’s inclusion hinting at a strategic overall shift in how heroes interact.
How Existing Team-Ups Are Changing
Some older Team-Ups are being adjusted. For example, the Arcane Order (Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Magik) is getting a nerf to prevent Scarlet Witch’s ability from being too powerful. Meanwhile, other Team-Ups are gaining new members:
- Arcane Order: Now includes Magik, who has a new skill called Chain of Cyttorak, allowing her to tether enemies together and limit their movement.
- Gamma Charge: Adds Black Panther, who gets a special ability that triggers a Gamma Shield when his health drops low, providing him with extra protection.
These updates help balance the game and expand the strategic options available to players.
Summary
Season 4 of Marvel Rivals brings big changes to Team-Ups, adding new ones and adjusting existing ones to create a more balanced and interesting gameplay experience. The removal of some older combinations and the introduction of powerful new synergies challenge players to rethink their strategies and build stronger teams in the evolving hero shooter landscape.
