Deep in the maze’s core lies the Cursed Witch, waiting. As you advance in “Dungeon Stalkers” with different characters, you’ll face curses that change the game and level the playing field for both veterans and newcomers.
Every curse is different, and some are better to avoid. Most curses can be managed, but others are so disruptive that they force you to escape quickly through the nearest portal. We’re here to help you understand what’s coming so you can enter each dungeon prepared. Here’s everything you should know.
What Are Curses?
Within the dungeon, curses activate every five minutes. They have various effects made to shake things up, giving everyone, regardless of experience, a fair chance to find loot and defeat tough monsters.
Curses can’t be removed or sidestepped unless you choose to leave the dungeon early. The only way to avoid them entirely is to exit before the first curse triggers—within five minutes after entering.
Keep track of the timer below the map to see when the next curse will appear. The list below covers known curses, but more could be added as updates roll out.
Some curses can actually help, like reducing enemy damage or giving your character new abilities. But generally, they make your time in the dungeon more challenging.
How to Prepare
Since curses are unavoidable once started—activated up to four times over roughly 20 minutes—you should start looking for an exit if you haven’t escaped already. Knowing which curses might activate helps you prepare gear and consumables. For example, keep repair kits handy to fix armor broken by Brawl or Armor Repair curses. You might also want to optimize ranged attacks to exploit curses like Weakened Skull.
All Witch Curses and Their Effects
Curse Name | Effect Description |
---|---|
Location Exposed | Reveals all stalker positions on the map, with flashing red icons indicating enemies’ locations. In PvE, it’s not much, but in PvP, it’s a serious threat. |
Weakened Skull | Increases damage from headshots for both monsters and players, useful mainly in PvP. |
Greatly Empowered Monsters | Monsters hit harder and tougher, so avoid bosses during this time. |
Retribution | Lightning bolts strike all stalkers’ locations at intervals, making movement tricky. Use this strategically or avoid it to deal more damage. |
Brawl | Breaks everyone’s armor immediately, making defenses useless temporarily. |
Armor Repair | Restores your armor’s durability to full. Helpful in fights but also benefits enemy players. |
Weakened Gravity | Temporarily removes gravity, letting you jump higher and float slightly—fun but can be risky. |
Weakened Monsters | Monsters do less damage, giving you an advantage. |
Greatly Weakened Monsters | Monsters are almost harmless, making escape easier but don’t underestimate them. |
Vitality Presence | Restores your health points. |
Mana Presence | Your Mana lasts longer, reducing the cost to use abilities for everyone. |
Time of Magic | Magic damage increases, so beware of magic-based enemies and players. |
Time of the Warrior | Boosts basic attack damage; better to avoid open fights. |
Mana Leak | Increased Mana costs; use spells cautiously. |
Infinite Mana Leak | Mana fully replenished and no longer costs anything—effectively unlimited magic use. |
Light Feet | Everyone’s movement speed increases, covering ground faster. |
Sword of Ice | Your attacks freeze and deal extra frost damage, similar to wielding an Ice Awl. |
Sword of Fire | Adds fire damage to all attacks, similar to casting Flame Bullet. |
Opened Doors | All dungeon doors open simultaneously, making navigation easier but increasing monster movement. |
Demon Summoned | The witch releases elite monsters into the dungeon for you to fight. |
Blood-Forged Portal | When a stalker dies, an exit portal appears, letting you escape quickly—great for PvP. |
Lightning Power | All stalkers gain lightning strike powers, shocking enemies and causing explosions. |
Raid Portal | Red raid portals spawn throughout the dungeon, unleashing waves of monsters. These are marked on the map so you can avoid them. |
Once a curse activates, it stays in effect until you leave the dungeon. This means each run will feel unique, as the curse order and which curses appear can rarely be identical. Knowing potential curses allows for smarter equipment choices—like carrying repair kits for armor or focusing on ranged weapons to maximize curse advantages.
While curses tend to hit harder in Player vs. Player battles, don’t get complacent—these effects can also come up in PvE, so stay alert.
