Players of Pokémon TCG Pocket are finding that Pidgeot ex is an excellent Normal-type Pokémon to counter large competitive decks. This is due to Pidgeot ex’s ability to inflict substantial damage, but determining the right cards to pair with it can be a bit tricky. The ideal combination depends on your strategy, as there are various approaches to constructing an effective deck centered around this card.

Pidgeot ex is one of the standout surprises in the Mythical Island expansion of Pokémon TCG Pocket. While many anticipated Golem to take the spotlight, there’s still potential for Pidgeot to rise. Although it hasn’t quite made its mark yet, the decks are still evolving, and there are several theories on which builds might endure. For now, let’s explore one of the strongest decks you can create.

Best Cards, Substitutions & Alternative Options

As the meta continues to shift, the ultimate version of this deck has yet to be finalized. You might consider pairing it with a different type for added synergies or stick solely to Normal-type to leverage some of the best new additions from Mythical Island.

Druddigon has become a staple in many decks to buy time until players can draw the cards they need. However, with this deck, getting the right Energy on it can be a challenge.

If you prefer to stay with the Normal-type theme, you might switch back to Blue instead of Druddigon. Here are a few additional suggestions:

  • Electric-type cards like Galvantula and Joltik
  • Vaporeon to complement Eevee
  • Chatot
  • Mew ex

These options could enhance your Pidgeot ex strategy, but be prepared to invest time and possibly money to gather the necessary cards. Conversely, there are some more budget-friendly alternatives, or you could substitute similar cards from Genetic Apex that you already own.

Strengths, Weaknesses & Things To Plan For

Most decks will rely on stalling and board manipulation. You can use Druddigon to stall, switch out your Active Pokémon with Leaf, and employ Tauros to deal with any opposing ex-Pokémon. Utilize Trainer cards to keep your board in order.

While you have plenty of base power with Pidgeot ex, you need to successfully field it and ensure your opponent has a filled Bench to maximize damage potential. Watch out for threats like Articuno ex, but you can use Pokémon Flute to help fill your Bench when necessary.

You will need Leaf to get Druddigon off the Active Spot.

The Pikachu ex Mythical Island deck could pose a challenge for this setup since it can severely harm Pidgeot. Electric-type decks will likely cause issues due to their heightened damage potential against Pidgeot. Fighting-type Pokémon can also create problems with both Tauros and Eevee present.

Additionally, you’ll need time to build your setup by evolving your Pokémon and getting sufficient Energy on the boards. At the moment, there’s no quick method to load Energy like some other leading decks offer. Your opponents may also maintain clear Benches, limiting your damage output. It might be wise to hold back Pidgeot ex to lure in your opponent’s strategy.

The bright side is that this deck has the potential to stand up to several prominent meta decks, but it might not be as reliable as others. Each player will need to test different strategies to determine what works best, as is common in Pokémon TCG Pocket when creating a new deck.
