The Naginata is a pole weapon with a blade that Yasuke wields for sweeping and stabbing strikes, taking out enemies in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The standout Naginata in the game is considered to be the Shade of Blight. This weapon features an engraving that grants +100% of an Adrenaline Chunk upon inflicting an affliction, along with delivering a remarkable amount of poison damage. With this Naginata, players can create an incredible Poison Naginata build for Yasuke. While this build primarily includes weapons from the store, it can also function well with alternative gear.
This particular Yasuke build utilizes the Shade of Blight legendary Naginata in AC Shadows alongside the Undead Armor Set, which is available for purchase in the Gashadokuro bundle. However, the Naginata also performs admirably with in-game equipment, with top alternatives being the Elegant Samurai Outfit, the Legendary Samurai Daimyo Helmet, and the Encouragement amulet. Ultimately, this build strongly depends on mastering the Naginata’s Whirlwind ability, which may be tricky at first but proves to be highly effective once learned.

Best Gear for a Naginata Poison Build in AC Shadows
The Shade of Blight Naginata Makes Poison & Poise Overpowered
The Shade of Blight Naginata boasts one of the highest Poison Buildup rates among all the Naginata in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Its built-in engraving lets Yasuke fill +100% of an adrenaline chunk every time an affliction occurs. This translates to near-constant access to abilities, as Poison will almost always be triggered on enemies.
To maximize the poison effects of this Naginata, you’ll want to equip the Encouragement legendary amulet, which boosts Yasuke’s stats by +15% when only a Naginata is equipped.

Ideally, you would use the Bone of the Fallen Warrior as your main amulet, as it lets you trigger poison buildup through posture attacks. However, other postures or poison engravings for the amulet can also be effective.
The Undead legendary armor set in AC Shadows is perfect for this build, creating a poison cloud when you successfully parry an attack. The Elegant Samurai Set is also a good choice.
There are various engravings that can enhance the poison effects of your Naginata, Helmet, and Armor, but any that boost Affliction buildup or posture attacks will work just fine.
Best Skills for a Naginata Poison Build
Immerse Yourself in the Naginata Abilities
This build does not require a significant investment in Mastery Points, making it a prime candidate for the Masakado’s Vengeance engraving, which amplifies damage based on unspent Mastery Points. Feel free to substitute this with any Poison effect , as you will already be dealing a tremendous amount of poison damage and buildup, while the extra damage from unspent Mastery Points can provide better results. Personally, I find Crescent Strike and Onslaught to be the most effective Naginata skills, offering both single and multiple target options.
Whirlwind is an excellent passive ability that inflicts damage with each strike, although it takes some time to master.
Whirlwind is a fantastic passive skill that deals damage incrementally with each hit, but it may require some time to get adjusted to. Impenetrable Defense is your best Samurai skill until you unlock Samurai Stand, while War Kick is always useful for a versatile attack. Additionally, you should invest in the Strength Builder passive from the Samurai tree to boost damage based on filled Adrenaline Chunks. Be sure to take all three Vigor skills to enhance Yasuke’s Adrenaline Chunk capacity.
This build is relatively straightforward, focusing on poison effects provided by various armors and weapons, and leveraging the stat boost from the Encouragement engraving. The Undead Armor effect is a top-tier engraving that adds poison benefits to any Yasuke configuration in AC Shadows, particularly when combined with the Shade of Blight Naginata, especially if you enhance poison engravings at the forge.
In summary, the Naginata is a versatile weapon that can accommodate various play styles, but focusing on the poison mechanics for Yasuke truly distinguishes it among builds in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
