The Pokemon TCG Pocket continues to pump out exciting new events. The latest solo battle challenge, known as the Venusaur Drop Event, requires players to face off against strong Grass-type decks. Victorious players can earn special promo packs that include exclusive cards and unique artwork for beloved first partner Pokemon.
Following right after the Fire Pokemon Mass Outbreak Event, many players might feel ready to tackle this challenge. However, gathering the necessary cards before Venusaur and its companions disappear can be tricky. Here’s how you can add Venusaur to your collection.
What Is The Venusaur Drop Event?
The Venusaur Drop Event is a Solo Battle challenge taking place from November 29, 2024, through December 13, 2024. During this event, participants can engage in four tiers of Solo Battles. Each battle has specific missions and rewards that can only be accessed during this period.
The event features five brand-new promo cards, including a fresh full-art design of Venusaur, along with two unique cards that open up new strategies for deck-building.
Venusaur Event New Items
Similar to the Lapras ex Drop Event that occurred recently, this new Venusaur-centric event introduces five promo cards, with two being unique in their mechanics at launch.
The key card to watch out for is the full-art Venusaur, which shows the Pokemon peacefully resting beside a lovely garden. Fortunately for competitive players, this card is practically the same as the one included in Genesis Apex: Mewtwo packs, meaning you won’t have to grind tirelessly to integrate it into a deck.
Venusaur Drop Event Battles
The event consists of four Solo Battles, each costing one Event Stamina to attempt. Importantly, Event Stamina is only consumed after a successful challenge, so aim for the highest-tier deck you feel capable of defeating.
Beginner – Ivysaur Deck
The beginner deck consists of Basic and Stage 1 Pokemon, alongside two Pokeballs for support. All 18 Pokemon in this deck are vulnerable to Fire, and the strongest, Ivysaur, packs only 90 HP, making it a straightforward match for any Fire deck.
This deck presents two Battle Tasks you can complete for rewards, including a chance to gain one Shop ticket, 25 Shinedust, and one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2.

Intermediate – Venusaur & Scyther Deck
This intermediate deck features enhancements, adding one Venusaur and two Scythers. It also incorporates Professor’s Research and a Farfetch’d, improving its reliability against Fire-type threats.
The intermediate deck has three Battle Tasks for rewards, including a chance to earn one Shop ticket, 25 Shinedust, and one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2.

The advanced deck replaces weaker Grass-types with stronger Colorless-type Pokemon, such as Kangaskhan, to absorb damage while buying time to power up Venusaur ex.
This deck has four Battle Tasks for rewards, and you can win a Shop ticket, 25 Shinedust, and one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2.

This expert-level deck introduces a more complex strategy, utilizing Petilil and Lilligant for Energy acceleration. Be sure to take down Lilligant and Ivysaur early on to prevent Venusaur ex from building momentum.
You can complete five Battle Tasks for rewards, and this high-difficulty deck guarantees that you’ll receive one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2.
