Ultimate Guide to Hidden Stages in Ultrakill

Ultrakill stands out as a significant indie boomer shooter inspired by the Quake and Devil May Cry franchises. It’s characterized by fast-paced action and a scoring system that rewards style, with numerous hidden secrets scattered throughout the levels.

As you search for these secrets, you’ll encounter gray terminals that lead to secret stages. Each layer typically has its own secret stage, and accessing them often requires completing specific tasks. Here’s where you can find them.

Prelude Secret Stage Location

In mission 0-2 of the Prelude layer, go to the required room and defeat all the enemies there. Once the next path opens, find a vent that’s been knocked down and leap up to locate a blue skeleton that grants access to the secret stage terminal.

Before reaching the final room, you’ll see Swordsmachine fighting off enemies in a room across from you. When he exits, enter the final room and slide under the meat smashers to find a concealed path. Stick to the right, and near a blue orb, you’ll find a breakable vent that leads to the Blue Skeleton hub room. Place the skull here to reveal the secret stage terminal, then jump down to start it.

Act 1 Secret Stages Location

At the start of Hell, there are two secret stages to uncover across the three layers.

1-S Location

The first secret stage in the first act can be found in level 1-1 of the Limbo layer. After defeating the two Cerberi and entering Hell through Dante’s Inferno, you’ll find a fountain with a Cerberus on top. Throw a coin into the fountain to reveal a hidden passage that leads down.

This secret stage features multiple ‘Connect The Dots’ mini-games.

2-S Location

In the Lust layer’s stage 2-3, Sheer Heart Attack, clear the first area of enemies and head through the only unlocked door leading to a waterfall-like room. After dispatching a group of enemies, check behind the source of the waterfall to find the second secret stage. Search every corner of the stage to locate three fuse boxes; breaking them will stop the waterfall and grant access to the secret stage.

This secret stage offers an unexpected twist for a boomer shooter: a 2-D dating simulator.

Act 2 Secret Stages Location

Like the first act, this one also contains two secret stages.

4-S Location

The sandy Greed layer is filled with surprises. To unlock the secret stage in level 4-2, God Damn The Sun, move forward to the large structure guarded by two Cerberi. Crouch through a narrow gap that leads to a Red Malicious Face mark, which opens the secret door beneath the building.

Pick up the crescent moon rock from this room and head to the building’s top. At the end, you must place the crescent moon to trigger nightfall. Return to the red terminal near the start of the level, and look for the brightest star behind it. The secret level terminal lies right below this star, initiating a mini-game reminiscent of classic Crash Bandicoot.

5-S Location

To find the secret stage in the fifth layer’s level 5-1, progress through the level as normal. Collect all the skeletons to unlock the main door. When you reach the jump pad, look to your left and jump onto the first metal support. Break the vent and crawl through to access the terminal for the secret stage.

This secret stage features a fishing mini-game, and after catching all the fish, the exit terminal will appear.

Act Three Secret Stages Location

As the game is still in early access and the final two layers are yet to be released, only one secret stage is available.

7-S Location

To unlock the secret stage in layer seven’s level 7-3, progress through the level until you encounter two Street Cleaners after clearing and feeding the second tree with blood. Lead them to the main tree, then jump off the barricades.

Since the Street Cleaners can’t jump, you need to grapple and pull one of them down. Go back to the initial ‘Feed Us, We Will Grow‘ gravestone and utilize the Street Cleaner’s flame to burn away the leaves on the door to your right. After that, eliminate the Street Cleaner, and through that door, you can enter the secret level where you’ll need to clean up every drop of blood you spill.
