Pokémon GO’s latest Max Battle Day features Gigantamax Garbodor, a pure Poison-type Pokémon. Defeating it can earn you many rewards. By completing specific research tasks and using certain bonuses, you’ll find it easier to defeat this large Pokémon. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter a shiny version of Garbodor!
You have the option to buy a special Event Ticket for this Gigantamax Garbodor Max Battle Day. Purchasing it gives you extra rewards, like more experience points from Max Battles and a higher limit on Max Particles you can collect. With recent level updates in Pokémon GO that change how experience points work, this Ticket could be a good purchase.
Schedule for Gigantamax Garbodor Max Battle Day
The event is only happening for a short time, starting on November 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. During this three-hour window, players will have a chance to battle this Pokémon and earn special rewards.
Before the event, starting October 27, 2025, there will be timed research tasks related to Garbodor. Completing these can give you items like Candy and Max Particles, which help strengthen your team and prepare you for the battle.
Finishing the research might also let you encounter Dynamax Drilbur, a Ground-type Pokémon. Its moves can be very effective against Garbodor. Though Drilbur and its evolution, Excadrill, are good options, other Pokémon can also serve as effective counters.
Weaknesses, Resistances, and Best Counters
Since Gigantamax Garbodor is only Poison-type, it has a specific set of weaknesses and resistances. It’s weaker to Psychic and Ground-type moves, which do extra damage. For example, Dynamax Excadrill is a strong choice because its Steel typing resists Poison and it hits hard with Ground moves.
Other good counters include Dynamax Metagross, which uses powerful Psychic moves and can also learn Earthquake. Pokémon like Dynamax Alakazam, Swoobat, or Latios/Latias are also effective, but some of their moves might be less effective depending on Garbodor’s moves. Pokémon with secondary resistances can help reduce damage from Garbodor’s attacks.
Event Bonuses
During the event, you’ll notice several special bonuses to make gameplay easier. The Remote Raid Limit increases from 10 to 20, giving you more chances to battle bosses. You’ll also gain more Max Particles from exploring, which are needed to challenge Garbodor.
Other benefits include more frequent Power Spot refreshes, extra trades, and increased collection limits for Max Particles. Using items like Max Mushrooms and being active in community activities can help you make the most of these bonuses.
Shiny Pokémon Chances
The chance of finding a shiny Gigantamax Garbodor is about 1 in 20 encounters during this event, which is higher than normal. Usually, shiny rates for Pokémon are 1 in 64 or even much rarer for special forms. Finding a shiny Garbodor might require multiple battles, but the increased odds make it worth trying during this event. Persistence and choosing the right Pokémon to battle quickly can improve your chances of success.
