In Final Fantasy 14, players can dive into a variety of daily and weekly tasks, each offering unique rewards that make them worth your time. One such weekly activity is Faux Hollows, where players can earn exclusive mounts, adorable minions, and unique glam items.

Not only can you earn special mounts and minions by engaging in Faux Hollows, but it’s also a great opportunity to get your hands on popular new minions like the Corgi or Pterosquirrel! While it won’t grant you a large amount of experience like completing your Wondrous Tails Journal might, the rewards are still valuable enough to justify your efforts.

Updated on October 2, 2024: Faux Hollows has resumed through the Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail’s 7.1 "Crossroads" update. This update has introduced new items available for purchase with your Faux Leaves and a new Unreal Trial you must clear to join the event. Below, you can find all the details regarding the updates and additions to Faux Hollows!

Unlocking Faux Hollows

Since Faux Hollows is a late-game event, there are several requirements to meet before you can access it. First, you must reach Level 80 with any Disciple of War or Magic and complete the main scenario quest titled "Shadowbringers." After that, you need to choose and complete the quest "Keeping Up with the Aliapohs," which unlocks Khloe’s Wondrous Tails.

Once you’ve completed these steps, head to Idyllshire. Speak with the Painfully Ishgardian Man located at (X: 7.0, Y: 5.9) to receive the Level 80 quest called "Fantastic Mr. Faux." After speaking to the Faux Commander, you will gain access to Faux Hollows.

While you need to be at least Level 80 to start Faux Hollows, you actually have to be Level 100 to actively participate in it, as that’s the synced level for the current Unreal Trial. Additional details about the Unreal Trial can be found below!

The Faux Hollows reset occurs every Tuesday at 1:00 am (PDT) / 8:00 am (GMT).

How To Play Faux Hollows

Each week, after finishing the current Unreal Trial, chat with the Faux Commander in Idyllshire at (X: 5.7, Y: 6.1) to try your luck at the Faux Hollows Board. This board consists of 36 tiles, each hiding illustrations underneath. Your objective is to flip over eleven tiles to recreate any of the three images displayed on the side of the board.

However, there’s a twist: some of these images might not even be present on the board. Three possible illustrations can appear at any time, and we’ll outline these below!

Retelling

The Large Illustration offers the least Faux Leaves, but it guarantees a "Retelling," allowing you to attempt the current Unreal Trial again and try the Faux Hollows Board an additional time before the weekly reset. It’s advisable to aim for the Large Illustration since it gives you extra opportunities to potentially reveal a Medium or Small Illustration for collecting more Faux Leaves.

Each illustration you reveal will yield Faux Leaves, which serve as currency you can exchange with the Faux Commander for various rewards such as minions, mounts, and outfits. Note that the rarer items will require a significant number of Faux Leaves, so participating in this event consistently is essential.
