Grounded 2’s Omni-Tool Tier 3 upgrades haven’t been added to the game yet, but they are coming in a future update. Until then, some materials and structures will remain completely indestructible because of the current limitations. Keep in mind, Grounded 2 is still in early access, so more features are expected to come.
Right now, it’s best to upgrade your tools to the highest level possible—Tier 2 for all tools except the Wrench, which is limited to Tier 1 for now. Here’s what you need to know about upgrading your Omni-Tool and when the Tier 3 upgrades will be introduced.
All Grounded 2 Omni-Tool Upgrades So Far
Currently, players can upgrade the Omni-Axe, Omni-Hammer, and Omni-Shovel up to Tier 2, while the Omni-Wrench is only available up to Tier 1. On the horizon, Tier 3 upgrades are planned but have not been implemented yet, meaning you’re limited in the types of materials and structures you can break down.
To improve your Omni-Tool, you’ll need to visit a Ranger Station and pay for each upgrade using a combination of Science and materials found in the park. Here’s what’s required so far:
Omni-Axe:
- Tier 1: 350 Science + 1 Grounded 2 Grass Seed + 2 Sprigs
- Tier 2: 3,000 Science + 1 Northern Scorpion Stinger + 2 Pine Needles
- Tier 3: Coming Soon
Omni-Hammer:
- Tier 1: 1,000 Science + 2 Red Ant Parts + 2 Clay
- Tier 2: To be announced
- Tier 3: To be announced
Omni-Shovel:
- Tier 1: 350 Science + 1 Grounded 2 Grass Seed + 2 Sprigs
- Tier 2: 3,000 Science + 1 Northern Scorpion Stinger + 2 Pine Needles
- Tier 3: Coming Soon
Omni-Wrench:
- Tier 1: 1,000 Science + 2 Red Ant Parts + 2 Clay
- Tier 2 & 3: Not available yet
When Will the Tier 3 Upgrades Be Released?
The Tier 3 upgrades for the Omni-Tools will be part of the upcoming Winter Update, according to the Grounded 2 development roadmap. While an exact release date isn’t confirmed, it’s expected to arrive either in early December 2025 or sometime in January or February 2026.
The Summer Update planned for 2026 will introduce Tier 4 upgrades along with water-themed content, though specific details are still under wraps.
Tier 5 upgrades haven’t been discussed publicly yet, but the roadmap hints at future “Omni-Tool unlocks,” which may include Tier 5 and beyond. The final upgrades are likely to arrive sometime in the latter half of 2026.
