If you want to unlock all the options in the town building part of Octopath Traveler 0, you’ll need to spend a lot of time gathering materials, clearing space, and constructing buildings so the town can grow and succeed.

After the start of the game, you’ll finish the prologue with the task of rebuilding Wishvale from the ground up. With Stia nearby and a vision of what it can become, you’ll gradually develop a large community for Wishvale. Once you finish the side mission, the town will be fully operational. Here’s what you’ll find when completing the Wishvale side quests.

All Town Buildings

Initially, you’ll build a Workshop, which is essential for unlocking future structures. Each building becomes available as you progress through the story via the sidequest “Kindlers of the Flame.”

Facility	Description
Workshop	The first building unlocked. It allows you to construct other facilities and cannot be moved.
House	Main homes for NPCs you recruit. Each house can hold two NPCs.
House (Large)	Bigger homes that fit three NPCs.
House (Grand)	Very large homes for up to four NPCs.
Hub	Your personal inn, where you can rest, cook, and manage your party. It also helps restore reputation and cannot be moved.
Fields	Used for planting seeds to produce ingredients for cooking. They can be upgraded for more planting and harvesting slots.
Ranch	A place to raise livestock, providing meat, eggs, milk, and other products based on the animals stationed there.
Salon	A facility to change your appearance. Upgrading it gives more customization options.
Shop	The town’s store for buying regular and special items. More options open up as you discover new recipes.
Training Ground	An area for training non-active party members. They gain EXP and JP, albeit at a lower rate.
Church	Allows access to helpers in battles and opens blue chests.
Sacred Flame Dais	Unlocks advanced options like fast travel, area research, and talking to certain animals using Azure Flamestones.
Museum	Unlocks after completing the “Kinders of the Flame” questline, where you can display trophies, antiques, and listen to music.
Monster Arena	Allows battling captured monsters for rewards. It opens after the same story quest and reaching town level 6.

Tips and Tricks for Building Your Town

While following the main quests, there are ways to speed up progress.

Constantly Collect Everything
Always pick up items and materials you find while exploring. Marked with exclamation points, these spots show where special items are located. Collect everything, as materials don’t respawn immediately after leaving an area. Gathering early makes future building easier.

Find Materials Easily
Every building requirement clearly shows where to find the needed materials. Usually, you just travel to nearby cities and explore the surrounding areas, checking question marks and collecting items along the way.

Use Shops and Path Actions
Buy building materials from shops in towns, including your shop in Wishvale. NPCs also sell materials or can give them through their path actions. Make sure to buy from NPCs when you can, especially if supplies are running low.

Save Radiant Cornerstones
You’ll get Radiant Cornerstones by defeating elite enemies during story quests. Saving these is smart because some of the best upgrades, like improving your church to unlock blue chests, will require them.

Use the “Place All” Function
In the town construction menu, there’s an option called “Place All.” It automatically assigns residents to buildings based on their skills and abilities, saving time and ensuring they are used efficiently.

Hide Structures When Necessary
Sometimes debris or hidden objects are obscured behind buildings. When you need to find something, hide structures temporarily to see your surroundings clearly. This makes it easier to spot and collect hidden items or debris.
