Torvian, Hand of the Saviour, is a boss enemy you face in Act 4 of Path of Exile 2. You can’t continue with the main story unless you defeat him at the entrance of The Excavation. He is located on the island of Arastas, and you’ll need to explore the island to find his arena since progression depends on it.
Other than understanding this key mechanic, the fight itself is quite simple. However, it’s helpful to know the basics about Torvian and the mechanics involved before facing him.
Torvian is resistant to physical damage and deals both physical and fire damage. He doesn’t have any particular weaknesses. During the fight, he gains some powerful buffs that can make him nearly impossible to kill if not handled correctly. Here’s how to manage those buffs.
The arena is encircled by three towers, each with a mage on top. These mages provide buffs to Torvian, increasing his damage output or reducing the damage he takes. When all three mages are buffed simultaneously, Torvian becomes virtually unkillable.
To remove these buffs, you can use Torvian’s stone throw ability. Wait until he slams the ground with both axes, then position yourself near the base of a tower. His next move will be a rock throw aimed at that tower, which temporarily stuns the mage and removes the buff.
Throughout the fight, Torvian will attempt to trap you behind large walls. You’ll need to dodge these walls, as trapping you will prevent you from lining him up properly to attack the towers.
He will also summon a large tornado of light that moves slowly across the battlefield. It’s best to avoid this attack. During the final phases, the tower buffs won’t respawn, giving you a window to focus on dealing the final damage.
