You will unlock many weapons as you play Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, so it’s natural to wonder which one is the best. Choosing the right weapons is important for both your success in runs and for upgrades, since some upgrades require rare materials. It’s better to save your resources for the best weapons rather than investing in weaker ones from the start.

Here’s a list of all the weapons in the game, along with some guidance to help you decide which to focus on. Keep in mind that preferences are personal, but I’ll also point out some objective strengths and weaknesses of each weapon. Let’s take a look at the top weapons in Moonlighter 2.

How Do Tiers Work?

We categorize the 20 weapons into four tiers to help guide your choices:

Tier S: The top-tier weapons. These are the best options for Will, with few or no weaknesses.
Tier A: Very strong weapons, just not quite on the same level as Tier S.
Tier B: Decent weapons that can still get the job done. They often have weaker passives or limited advantages.
Tier C: The least effective, often best to avoid unless you’re experimenting or starting out.

Tier S Weapons

Weapon	Type	Reason
Blo-Beam	Gun	The best gun in the game. Offers great range, high damage, and can be upgraded to increase capacity and reload speed. A perfect choice.
Aetherium Heart	Large Sword	This weapon compensates for the typical drawbacks of large swords, making it very powerful. It’s considered the best melee weapon.
Ultimate Spear	Spear	Eliminates the need to stay in position or rely on tricky tracking. When multiple enemies are close, its spearheads bounce between them, making it highly effective.
Ultimate Short Sword	Short Sword	Infinite ammo makes this overpowered once mastered, especially for finishing moves.

Tier A Weapons

Blo-Blaster	Gun	Excellent damage at close range and upgradeable. The downside is it can’t hit enemies at a distance, which limits its use.
The Rectifier	Spear	A more aggressive version of the standard spear. Perfect for players who prefer an attacking playstyle.
Sun and Moon Ballad	Gauntlets	Likely the best gauntlets in the game. Their double attack combined with elemental perks makes them extremely powerful.
Ultimate Large Sword	Large Sword	Scaling is impressive when buffed with sharpness or elemental effects. Also, its special attacks hit multiple times.
Everlasting Fury	Short Sword	Adds a useful buff against bosses, making it a good choice for challenging encounters.
Merchant’s Large Sword	Large Sword	Keeps sharpness high for damage boosts; a straightforward but effective weapon.
Ray Axe	Short Sword	Marginally drops to Tier B, but with some work, it can become quite effective due to its decent effects.

Tier B Weapons

Heartbeat Hunter	Gauntlets	Useful if you’ve progressed far and are skilled, but the double damage downside can be a major weakness for new players.
Ultimate Gauntlets	Gauntlets	Disappointing effect for an ultimate weapon, but still usable. Other gauntlets offer better effects.
Blob Gun	Gun	Your starting gun, solid overall, but less exciting than other options.
The Vow	Large Sword	Has issues with perks that drain sharpness, so rapid fighting is recommended to avoid drawbacks.
Combat Rod	Spear	Slightly better than the worst spears, but its special attack is almost useless against fast or flying enemies.
Merchant’s Short Sword	Short Sword	Frequent use of special finishers makes damage boosts desirable, but it’s less effective compared to other weapons.
Merchant’s Spear	Spear	Good range and damage, but its special attack is the weakest among spears.
Merchant’s Gauntlets	Gauntlets	Adds more berserk time but isn’t particularly remarkable compared to other options.

Tier C Weapons

Old Broom	Spear	The weakest weapon. It lacks a special attack and struggles against bosses. You’ll spend a lot of time trying to defeat enemies with it.
Note: You will have a side quest to defeat a boss with this weapon, which can yield a good reward.
