Hostile mobs are all around in Hytale. During the day, you’ll encounter bears, wolves, snakes, goblins, and more. When night falls, even more dangerous creatures come out to fight you.
However, it’s not a big problem if you have a good weapon to defend yourself. The game offers several strong weapons to choose from. Here are some of the best options in Hytale, along with how to find or make them.
Note: Since Hytale is still in early access, some of these weapons may be updated or changed as new ones get added. Also, Mithial weapons are excluded here because they can only be obtained with Creative Mode, since Storm Leather drops are currently absent.
Adamantite Shortbow
There are multiple versions of the Shortbow, but the strongest one right now is the Adamantite Shortbow. It deals more damage than other bows and boasts the highest damage output among ranged weapons in Adventure Mode.
While it’s a bow and thus slower to fire—because each shot requires loading a new arrow—it’s effective enough to take down most enemies quickly.
How to get the Adamantite Shortbow
You craft it at a Tier 3 Blacksmith’s Anvil using these resources:
- 11 Adamantite Ingots (mined in the volcanic Devastated Lands zone)
- 3 Heavy Leather (made by turning Heavy Hide at a Tanning Rack)
- 3 Cindercloth Scraps (dropped by enemies in the Devastated Lands)
Cobalt Sword
Swords are usually the most balanced weapon type, offering a good mix of damage and speed. They also have some reach, keeping enemies at a distance. The Cobalt Sword is among the best due to its high damage output.
Pairing a sword with a shield provides extra protection, making it a versatile choice.
How to get the Cobalt Sword
You craft this at a Tier 2 Blacksmith’s Anvil with these materials:
- 10 Cobalt Ingots (mined in the snowy Whisperfrost Frontiers zone)
- 3 Heavy Leather (crafted from Heavy Hide at a Tanning Rack)
- 3 Shadoweave Scraps (dropped by Outlanders in the Whisperfrost Frontiers zone)
Flame Crystal Staff
The Flame Crystal Staff is unique because it’s deadly at both close and long range. It can shoot fireballs, which don’t drop like arrows, making it easier to hit distant enemies. If enemies get too close, you can switch to its flamethrower attack.
Both attack styles use Essence of Fire as fuel.
How to get the Flame Crystal Staff
You need to craft it at the Arcanist’s Workbench and gather these:
- 1 Ruby (found in small gold deposits in the Devastated Lands)
- 8 Silver Ingots (mined underground in Whisperfrost Frontiers)
- 8 Gold Ingots (mined in desert areas)
- 20 Essence of Fire (dropped by enemies in volcanic zones like Devastated Lands)
Adamantite Mace
The Adamantite Mace is all about raw power. It delivers massive damage with each hit, although swings are slow due to its weight. Its strength allows hitting multiple enemies at once, making it effective for crowd control.
How to craft the Adamantite Mace
You craft it at a Tier 3 Blacksmith’s Anvil with:
- 16 Adamantite Ingots (mined in Devastated Lands)
- 5 Heavy Leather (produced from Heavy Hide at a Tanning Rack)
- 3 Cindercloth Scraps (dropped by enemies in Devastated Lands)
Adamantite Daggers
Daggers excel in speed, allowing you to unleash quick, successive strikes. They can also perform a double stab that hits multiple enemies simultaneously.
While standard versions don’t deal much damage, the Adamantite Daggers are more powerful than other dagger types, making them a good combat choice.
How to get the Adamantite Daggers
You craft these at a Tier 3 Blacksmith’s Anvil using:
- 9 Adamantite Ingots (found in Devastated Lands)
- 3 Heavy Leather (from Heavy Hide at a Tanning Rack)
- 3 Cindercloth Scraps (dropped by enemies in the zone)
Adamantite Sword
The Adamantite Sword is highly effective, offering a strong balance of damage, speed, and reach. It’s not the strongest weapon in the game but performs well overall.
How to craft the Adamantite Sword
You need a Tier 3 Blacksmith’s Anvil and these:
- 11 Adamantite Ingots (mined from Devastated Lands)
- 4 Heavy Leather (crafted from Heavy Hide)
- 3 Cindercloth Scraps (dropped by enemies)
Choosing the right weapon depends on your play style, but these options provide a solid start to surviving against the dangerous mobs in Hytale.
