Super Earth is facing a massive invasion in Helldivers 2, and it’s up to you and your team to fend off the Illuminate forces and safeguard our citizens in the Mega Cities. The enemy has already begun its assault, and reports confirm that they have landed across Super Earth. Time is running out before these forces destroy our cities, so it’s crucial for all Helldivers to mobilize and take down the squid threats.
Before you head into battle, be aware that new enemy ships equipped with laser cannons are making appearances in the Mega Cities of Super Earth. Review our briefing to effectively eliminate these squid ships with a bang.
Where To Find Leviathan Ships
To locate these formidable vessels, look no further than the Mega Cities of Super Earth. They generally appear only at higher difficulty levels, starting from level seven and above. You’ll know one has arrived when you hear a distinct mechanical screech echoing through the battle-torn skies.
You might encounter a lone Leviathan at difficulty six, but it’s quite rare.
These ships can be elusive in tight spaces, but they will level buildings with ease as they advance. Armed with powerful laser cannons, they fire in succession—while the first couple of shots might miss, don’t count on hiding from the later ones!
A Leviathan’s lasers can instantly eliminate you and your team, so make sure you have plenty of defensive strategies ready to minimize damage.
When you spot one of these menacing Leviathan ships in a Mega City, you must take it down. Otherwise, it will continue its path of destruction throughout Super Earth.
How To Destroy A Leviathan
While a Leviathan may seem invulnerable, it actually has three specific weak points located on its underside. However, getting close to them is risky, and staying at a distance puts you in danger of its attacks.
As a Helldiver, you can quickly take down Leviathan ships using two main methods: utilizing your stratagems and employing anti-tank weaponry.
Use The Recoilless Rifle
Bring along the Recoilless Rifle and its backpack, as it is the most effective weapon for this task. The Quasar is too slow for hitting Leviathans as they navigate, and its cooldown can spell death for you.
Ensure your Recoilless Rifle is fully loaded when you spot a Leviathan above. Position yourself below the ship and aim for the three weak spots on its underbelly.
You’ll only need one or two shots to breach each section of the ship, and once all weak points are destroyed, the Leviathan will crash down.
Use An Anti-Tank Emplacement
Alternatively, your squad can utilize Anti-Tank Emplacement Stratagems. These set up powerful stationary cannons that will swiftly fire into the Leviathan’s belly.
However, this method leaves the operator vulnerable while they focus on the task. Additionally, the cannons may not always be able to rotate into position for targeting the weak spots.
If you opt for this strategy, make sure to provide ample support to the operator so they can maintain their attention on the Leviathan. You’ll need to keep firing to bring it down, but a single Anti-Tank Emplacement has enough ammunition to do the job.
