You’ll manage your case, knowing when to deliver that perfect headline, as Guilty as Sock! offers loads of smart gameplay elements that make use of your intellect. If you’re new to this world of courtroom antics or simply need a few refresher tips for your next trial, this guide provides friendly advice to help you craft compelling arguments and stay ahead of the opposition.

Create Custom Decks

Personalizing your sock’s appearance is just one aspect of customization. You can also design a Custom Deck for either the Defense or Prosecution. Creating cards for your deck is straightforward. In the main menu, click on the Custom Evidences button located under the Host button, then hit the plus sign to bring up the Custom Card Builder, where you can create your own cards, upload square JPEG images, and add brief titles and descriptions.

Tip: Custom decks save locally, allowing you to share or exchange your folder with friends!

Once your deck is saved, you can switch between different themed decks depending on the mood you want for each trial. During the courtroom sessions, custom cards will show up just like regular evidence. Click on your card when prompted by the judge, and it will display on-screen for everyone to see, complete with image and text.

Make A Deck Loadout

It’s wise to prepare several custom decks, such as a forensic setup, a thematic chaos configuration, or a "wildcard tricks" layout, allowing you to adapt your strategy based on whether you’re playing as the Prosecutor or Defense. For a Forensic Deck, prioritize credible evidence to strengthen your case. You might include cards such as:

  • Security Footage
  • Blood Test Results
  • Secret Love Letters

Add some quirky wildcards for comedic effect, like:

  • AI-generated: Remove one piece of evidence from the opposing side.
  • Southern Accent: Opponent must speak with a rural tone for the next turn.
  • Crash Out: Create chaos with the opposition for comedic mischief.

For a Thematic Chaos Deck, dive deep into the absurd. Combine evidence with cards like:

  • Poop Knife
  • Bath Water Drink
  • Receipt from QT at 3:17 AM
  • The Dog Saw Everything

Each card contributes to an entertaining story that will keep the courtroom engaged. Introduce rules cards such as “You must object in rhyme” to spice things up.

Create A Narrative

When beginning with your initial ten evidence cards, choose five that best illustrate your case. Combine solid props like "security footage" or "fingerprint" to create believable claims along with surprising items like "bloody spork" or "birthday cake weapon" for shock value to catch your opponent off guard.

Tip for Hosts: You can select from three thematic courtroom settings: Default Trial, Trial of the Crowns, or Cosmic Order. Be sure to ask the players what vibe you’re aiming for beforehand.

Aim to develop a narrative with your cards. Start with familiar evidence to set the stage, then introduce a curveball midway through the trial to create shockwaves. If a card elicits strong reactions, like laughter or gasps, follow it up with another to keep the energy going. It’s less about logic and more about storytelling flair.

Learn How The Trial Flows

The Prosecutor will name the suspect and the crime, with the evidence cards being randomly generated for both parties. The Judge uses their gavel to signal speaking turns: the red button gives the floor to the Prosecutor, the blue to the Defense, and the green allows your side to speak. The Judge can also call witnesses, mute speakers, or announce verdicts. The jury will ultimately vote on the outcome, and the journalist can introduce headlines during the trial.

Understanding the trial’s rhythm will prepare you for upcoming questions or accusations and help you decide when to use special actions like paper planes or headlines.

Speak Confidently And Keep Focused

If you’re taking on a lawyer role, whether Prosecutor or Defense, it’s vital to maintain order in the courtroom. As a lawyer, you have access to the Authority feature that lets you intervene if chaos ensues. If witnesses begin to ramble or the other side tries to speak during your turn, pressing your Authority button can **call for silence. While this doesn’t completely control the courtroom, it can be an effective scare tactic or a way to restore order**.

The Prosecutor, for instance, shouldn’t speak while presenting their case, as those moments are dedicated to presenting evidence and building their argument. The Defense, meanwhile, should aim for concise responses to save time. Both sides need to keep the momentum going; droning on with filler can lead to being muted by the Bailiff.

Play The Journalist Strategically

Journalists can craft up to three “Breaking News” headlines during a trial, giving you an opportunity to shape the game’s storyline. Choose moments when tension peaks or humor is high, such as after a surprise piece of evidence or just before the verdict. A well-timed headline can boost your side’s narrative or undermine the other side’s.

Maximize your headlines by paying attention to courtroom dynamics. Early on in the trial, look for standout moments: Are people noting surprising contradictions, dramatic witness reactions, or funny slip-ups? Create headlines that reference these highlights, dropping them during attention-grabbing moments, generally just after the Judge allows you to play.

Use Visuals And Props

Make use of Paper Planes and Emojis intentionally. If the energy dips, throwing paper or using emojis can revive the atmosphere. For a more pronounced impact, toss Paper Balls from your desk at others. This briefly stuns them.

Be strategic with your Paper Balls. A timely throw can disrupt an objection or divert attention during your presentation. Keep it lighthearted and avoid overusing paper throws to prevent freezing the Judge’s interface. If issues arise, the Judge hitting the cleanup option typically resolves it.

Take Notes During Trial

Effectively using the notepad can make or break your case. Note important evidence cards, including quirky items like “beanbag chair,” and indicate who played which cards. This helps you spot any inconsistencies or contradictions as the trial progresses. When you’re acting as the Defense or Prosecutor, track witness statements and timing. Mark who spoke, what they claimed, and how it aligns with your version of events. A simple note like “Alibi: at the well” may expose contradictions later.

For the Judge, the notepad serves as an essential tool for logging interruptions, muting points, and managing presentation order. This keeps the trial proceeding smoothly while ensuring everyone has the opportunity to speak.
