Safia is the oldest member of the companions in GreedFall: The Dying Land and probably the most confident. She’s an experienced explorer and mapmaker who opposes imperialism, bringing valuable knowledge and combat skills to Vriden Gerr’s team.
She’s one of the last to join your group, so investing time into her benefits those who build her thoughtfully. Her mix of experience and flexibility makes her an interesting choice as a partner. If you master her rifle skills, she can be the deadliest member of your squad from a distance, proving that your most experienced fighter can also be your top-range attacker.
Best Safia Skills
Despite being the team’s sole gunner (unless you teach Vriden Gerr gunner skills), Safia isn’t just about causing damage. She also has some powerful support abilities. While she won’t replace Nilan as a healer, she can serve as a versatile ranger with useful support skills.
Cartographer’s Road
This is Safia’s support-focused skill tree. It offers basic healing and defensive skills, along with some helpful status effects. Most skills here are worth unlocking, except possibly Execution, which is more situational and offers little benefit. You might want to hold off on upgrading Reinforcement until late in the game because Safia is a long-range fighter and doesn’t typically take much damage, so the healing boost isn’t critical early on.
When upgrading Posture Improvement, you can choose any of the options — in your playthrough, a balanced approach worked well. The Avatar of Life skill is a solid capstone but may be less useful later in the game; consider saving it for the final stages.
Rifles
Almost everything in this skill tree is valuable. It enhances Safia’s damage output, adds a powerful Burn combo, and provides various status effects to weaken enemies.
Unlocking grenade and trap skills depends on your play style. Grenades tend to be useful throughout the game, but traps are more situational. Ignoring Lay Trap might be best, and you can allocate your skill points elsewhere.
For weapon skills, focus on reducing the action point cost of Piercing Shot early on, since Safia uses a lot of action points. Later, investing in extra shield-breaking when enemies are burned will maximize her capstone skill, which is one of the most effective available.
Safia’s Path
All skills here boost her utility or survivability, making her a well-rounded character. If you want to save some points, Excellent Health in the second tier can be postponed; her range already helps her avoid damage, so extra health isn’t critical.
Hunter’s Mark is a key skill to prioritize and upgrade early. It’s inexpensive, useful, and can significantly improve her effectiveness in combat.
Best Safia Attributes
For her damage potential as a rifle user, focus on Perception and upgrade it whenever possible. This stat directly influences her damage output.
If you can’t upgrade Perception yet, prioritize splitting points evenly between Endurance and Focus until certain milestones are reached. A common approach is 12 Endurance and 18 Focus, but on higher difficulty levels, you might want to put more into these stats. Since Safia’s skill set consumes a lot of AP, Focus should be your main concern.
Any remaining points should go into Strength to boost critical damage, which makes her rifles even more lethal.
