Persona 5: The Phantom X Overview
In Persona 5: The Phantom X, you step into the shoes of Wonder, the head of a fresh group of Phantom Thieves. Their mission? To find seven treasures and change the hearts of some of the most vile villains. Throughout this journey, many characters rally behind this team of heroes.
Alongside the Phantom Thieves, players can recruit a wide range of characters, known as Phantom Idols, each with unique functions in battle. However, not every character is equally valuable. To help you navigate your options, we’ve organized them into tiers based on their effectiveness in combat.
How Tiers Work
We categorize characters into four tiers to illustrate their usability:
- S Tier: Exceptional characters who excel in their roles or bring versatility to any team.
- A Tier: Strong characters that can perform exceptionally well when paired with the right teammates.
- B Tier: Average characters that can be useful occasionally but are generally not a top choice.
- C Tier: Characters that are best avoided if you want to advance in the game, unless no other options are available.
S Tier Characters
Here’s a look at the standout characters in the S Tier:
| Phantom Thief/Idol | Role | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Joker – Ren Amamiya | Sweeper | A top-tier DPS character, Joker shines in battle. He can secure additional turns under optimal conditions and boost his damage. |
| Wonder – Nagisa Kamishiro | Assassin | As the main character, Wonder’s Wild Card ability allows him to equip three personas, making him the most adaptable character. |
| Rin – Yaoling Li | Saboteur | Rin is the best debuffer, capable of hindering enemy skills, which makes her an excellent asset. |
| Mona – Morgana | Medic | The foremost healer, Mona can resurrect teammates, offering significant support to any team. |
A Tier Characters
Next are the A Tier characters, who still have much to offer:
| Phantom Thief/Idol | Role | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Panther – Ann Takamaki | Sweeper | Ann excels in Fire damage, with abilities to hit multiple enemies, making her extremely valuable, especially with other Fire allies. |
| Cattle – Lufel | Medic | Lufel is a healer who pairs well with Fire-type characters, enhancing their potential in battle. |
| Leon – Leo Kamiyama | Strategist | Leon offers substantial buffs and excels in Nuclear damage, making him an important support character. |
| Skull – Ryuji Sakamoto | Assassin | Ryuji has solid DPS potential and deals more damage the more often he is hit, encouraging a strategic playstyle. |
| Okyann – Kayo Tomiyama | Navigator | Okyann is adept at offering buffs to attack and SP recovery, making her invaluable in elemental-focused teams. |
| Soy – Shun Kano | Guardian | The best tank in the game, Soy not only reduces damage but also has the ability to recover HP. |
B Tier Characters
B Tier characters are decent but may not shine in every situation:
| Phantom Thief/Idol | Role | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Riddle – Haruna Nishimori | Strategist | Riddle is a reliable support character who provides various buffs, enhancing team performance. |
| Mont – Kotone Montagne | Assassin | A good Ice-type DPS character, but lacks variety and only shines against weaker foes. |
| Closer – Motoha Arai | Sweeper | Motoha can inflict decent Electric damage and is useful early in the game, despite being overshadowed later on. |
C Tier Characters
Finally, we have the C Tier characters, which are generally less useful:
| Phantom Thief/Idol | Role | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Sepia – Toshiya Sumi | Assassin | As a Curse DPS user, Sepia is only worth considering if you’re focused on Curse damage, as better options are available. |
| Key – Kiyoshi Kurotani | Saboteur | Key has limited utility outside Fire teams, making him a less favorable choice. |
| Moko – Tomoko Noge | Strategist | Moko is often outclassed in her buffing abilities, so avoid using her unless absolutely necessary. |
| Yuki – Yukimi Fujikawa | Guardian | Yuki has potential as a Guardian but her shields are granted randomly, making her risky to rely on. |
With this guide, players can better prepare their teams and strategies in Persona 5: The Phantom X. Happy gaming!
