Top Nightfarer for Solo Play in Elden Ring Nightreign

If you’ve attempted a solo adventure in Elden Ring Nightreign and found it tough, you’re certainly not the only one. Going through Nightreign alone is one of the hardest tasks in the Souls series, and there’s a good chance that FromSoftware will tweak the balance in the future. Whichever Nightfarer you pick for your solo journey, being at your best is crucial if you want to reach and defeat the Nightlord.

With that in mind, I’ve had greater success in Elden Ring Nightreign solo mode by using one specific Nightfarer. This character boasts a unique ability to summon spirits to aid in battle. Revenant is a necromancer-type class with a special skill that automatically revives fallen enemies, plus an ability to call upon one of three unique allies to assist her. In a solo environment, these summons act as distractions for many bosses, giving you a fighting chance to progress.

The Revenant Nightfarer stands out for solo runs mainly due to her summons, which help divert enemy attention and create space for you. As a necromancer-themed class, Revenant has the ability to resurrect defeated foes during battles, making her summons extremely helpful. This happens more frequently in solo mode since the effect activates only when Revenant or one of her summoned spirits deals the final blow.

Another significant perk for solo mode with Revenant is her family member summons, part of her Character Skill. She can call one of three family members into combat: Helen the Agile Page, Frederick the Burly Cook, or Sebastian the Doting Butler. Each one serves a particular purpose but can be incredibly useful in a solo run. Typically, they can effectively draw the attention of bosses and other enemies, easing some of the pressure off you, even if just temporarily.

Lastly, Revenant’s Ultimate Art, Immortal March, can also be quite beneficial in solo mode, provided it’s timed perfectly to avoid a swift defeat. This skill activates a unique ability for the family member she has summoned, which can be used strategically as well. From my experience, these three aspects of Revenant give you the best odds for success in a solo run, although personal playstyle and skill level are also significant factors.

Raider & Executor Are Viable, While Ironeye & Wylder Require More Luck

I’ve spent a lot of time playing solo, especially when the servers were down for a full day, experimenting with each of the eight Nightfarers. Having logged over 1200 hours in Elden Ring, this still proved to be a significant challenge. Of all the Nightfarers, I managed to reach the Nightlord only once, and it was with Revenant during an exceptionally fortunate run. The Nightlord battle didn’t go well, however, even though I was as prepared as I could be.

I also reached the Day 2 boss using Raider, Executor, Ironeye, and Wylder. Raider and Executor are both fun and totally viable for solo play but demand a bit more skill and luck compared to Revenant. While Ironeye and Wylder are decent options, your chances of success will hinge almost entirely on luck. I can confidently say that Recluse, Duchess, and Guardian were my least successful attempts at solo Nightreign. No matter which Nightfarer you choose for a solo journey in Elden Ring Nightreign, you will face a tough battle.
