Top Lorwyn Eclipsed Standard Decks for MTG Arena: Completing & Solving

Select Language:

When a new Magic: The Gathering set drops, the standard game environment tends to shift just a bit. New decks often emerge as some cards become popular again, giving the meta a fresh look. With two new standard sets still to arrive before April ends, expect more changes soon. For now, though, we’ve put together a list of top decks you can play on MTG Arena or in physical games after Lorwyn Eclipsed’s release.

Mono-White Aggro
Mono-white decks are everywhere on MTG Arena right now. While life gain decks are tough opponents, the aggressive style is proving to be the most successful overall. Interestingly, no Lorwyn Eclipsed cards are in these lists. They include cards from Wilds of Eldraine, Duskmourn, and Bloomburrow, and the deck remains legal until 2027.

Deck List:

  • Lightstall Inquisitor x4 (Edge of Eternities)
  • Optimistic Scavenger x4 (Duskmourn: House of Horrors)
  • Spellbook Vendor x4 (Wilds of Eldraine)
  • Wonderweave Artist x4 (Through The Omenpaths)
  • Etherereal Armor x4 (Duskmourn)
  • Seam Rip x4 (Edge of Eternities)
  • Shardmage’s Rescue x4 (Duskmourn)
  • A Most Helpful Weaver x4 (Through The Omenpaths)
  • Feather of Flight x4 (Bloomburrow)
  • Sheltered by Ghosts x4 (Duskmourn)
  • Abandoned Air Temple x2 (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
  • Plains x18 (Player’s Choice)

How To Play:
This deck’s strategy is simple: get as many creatures onto the battlefield early and attack. Abilities of cards like Optimistic Scavenger — who gains a +1/+1 counter whenever an enchantment you control enters play — help boost your offense. Spellbook Vendor can pay one mana to create a sorcerer role token, attach it to a creature, and give it +1/+1 plus a scry ability for better card selection. Enchantments mainly function to shield your creatures and keep the board light for your opponent. The deck aims to win within the first five turns, as it offers little depth for longer games. A slow start gives your opponent an advantage, especially if you lack creatures in hand.

Jeskai Control
This Jeskai Control build is packed with instant spells to disrupt your opponent’s plans, giving you time to get your three big creatures out and deal major damage. The goal is to protect your creatures so they can hit hard while keeping your opponent at bay.

Deck List:

  • Kutzil’s Flanker x2 (The Lost Caverns of Ixalan)
  • Beza, the Bounding Spring x1 (Bloomburrow)
  • Marang River Regent x1 (Takir: Dragonstorm)
  • Stock Up x3 (Aetherdrift)
  • Day of Judgement x2 (Foundations)
  • Ultima x1 (Final Fantasy)
  • Spell Snare x2 (Lorwyn Eclipsed)
  • Three Steps Ahead x2 (Outlaws of Thunder Junction)
  • Get Lost x3 (The Lost Caverns of Ixalan)
  • Consult the Star Charts x4 (Edge of Eternities)
  • No More Lies x4 (Murders at Karlov Manor)
  • Lightning Helix x4 (Murders at Karlov Manor)
  • Ashling’s Command x2 (Lorwyn Eclipsed)
  • Jeskai Revelation x3 (Takir: Dragonstorm)
  • Basic lands such as Plains x1 and Islands x1, plus other lands like Floodfarm Verge, Hallowed Fountain, Riverpyre Verge, etc., for mana fixing.

How To Play:
Focus on disrupting your opponent early. Play spells with strategic patience; avoid wasting resources. In the early game, stop aggressive plays to set up your control spells. The deck balances between controlling the game state and deploying your bigger threats. Often, you’ll want to keep some spells in hand to prevent your opponent from overwhelming you, especially if they start with a fast or aggressive opening.

Mono-Green Landfall
The Landfall deck is a favorite, especially after Lorwyn Eclipsed. Its core mechanic is activating creature or enchantment abilities whenever you play a land. The deck’s main goal is to land a land every turn, double those effects with cards like Fabled Passage or Icetill Explorer to accelerate land drops.

Deck List:

  • Llanowar Elves x4 (Foundations)
  • Sazh’s Chocobo x4 (Final Fantasy)
  • Badgermole Cub x4 (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
  • Bristly Bill, Spine Sower x4 (Outlaws of Thunder Junction)
  • Tifa Lockhart x3 (Final Fantasy)
  • Mossborn Hydra x4 (Foundations)
  • Toph, the Blind Bandit x1 (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
  • Icetill Explorer x4 (Edge of Eternities)
  • Various lands like Forests, Escape Tunnel, Ba Sing Se, Fabled Passage, and others support mana production and fixing.

How To Play:
Landfall triggers abilities whenever a land starts a new turn. Playing a land each turn maximizes these effects, and cards like Fabled Passage or Icetill Explorer can help you get lands onto the battlefield more than once per turn. Though primarily an aggressive deck, protect your creatures since there is limited protection available. Hold back some spells to prevent being reset by board wipes.

Mono-Red Aggro
Red decks are all about quick aggression. Hexing Squelcher, a new Standard favorite, is key: a two-mana goblin that can’t be countered, grants ward to itself and your other creatures, and makes spells uncounterable. It’s a powerful card for speeding up damage.

Deck List:

  • Burnout Bashtronaut x4 (Aetherdrift)
  • Hexing Squelcher x1 (Lorwyn Eclipsed)
  • Hired Claw x4 (Bloomburrow)
  • Razorkin Needlehead x4 (Duskmourn)
  • Scalding Viper x4 (Wilds of Eldraine)
  • Tersa Lightshatter x2 (Takir: Dragonstorm)
  • Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might/Temple of Power x3 (Lost Caverns of Ixalan)
  • Sunspire Lynx x1 (Bloomburrow)
  • Nova Hellkite x4 (Edge of Eternities)
  • Several spells like Burst Lightning, Shock, Lightning Strike, and spells that help amplify damage or manage threats. Lands are mainly quick mana sources like Mountain, Steam Vents, and Battlefield verges to ensure color flexibility.

How To Play:
The aim is to get your creatures on the battlefield rapidly and attack within the first few turns, typically by turn four or five. Early deployment of Hexing Squelcher is strongly advised. You can consider including more copies if drawing it is tricky. Be relentless with your aggressive plays — your goal is to end the game fast.

Dimir Midrange
Dimir Midrange decks rely on high-impact creatures and versatile spells. Kaito, Bane of Nightmares, is particularly troublesome for opponents due to his dual nature: he shifts between hexproof creature and planeswalker. This makes him tricky to deal with.

Deck List:

  • Kaito, Bane of Nightmares x4 (Duskmourn: House of Horror)
  • Spyglass Siren x4 (Lost Caves of Ixalan)
  • Cecil, Dark Knight x3 (Duskmourn)
  • Floodpits Drowner x3 (Duskmourn)
  • Wan Shi Tong, Librarian x2 (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
  • And many other creatures, enchantments, and lands to stabilize and control the game. This deck often aims to outvalue opponents by evading removal and generating continuous advantage.

How To Play:
Heavy emphasis on getting Kaito onto the battlefield, especially via ninjutsu, to surprise your opponent and activate his powerful abilities. Use Spell Pierce and similar spells to protect him and limit your opponent’s responses. Balance your threats and spell use carefully, waiting for the right moment to strike or establish control.
