In Monster Hunter Wilds, Honey is an essential item, much like it is throughout the entirety of the series. One unit of Honey can be combined with a regular Potion to create a Mega Potion, which restores roughly twice the health compared to a standard Potion. While relying on regular Potions can work in the early stages of the game, Mega Potions become crucial in the mid to late game when you face some of Wilds‘ most formidable foes.
Although you may find a few Mega Potions in your supply stash, crafting is the only consistent way to obtain them in Monster Hunter Wilds; they are not available for purchase at the Provisions Stockpile. (You can access your hunting supplies via your Seikret; just press left on the D-Pad to open your inventory.) If you’re planning to take on tough hunts, having additional Mega Potions can be advantageous, and you might also want to save your hard-earned gold for upgrading your weapons and armor. If this resonates with you, here’s how to effectively farm Honey in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Best Places to Farm Honey in Monster Hunter Wilds
Farming Honey in the Windswept Plains
Fortunately, the Windswept Plains is the top location for farming Honey in Monster Hunter Wilds. This is the first map players unlock early in the campaign and should feel familiar if you participated in the open beta. During the season of Plenty, you can find three main areas on this map where Honey is abundant: one near area 1, another close to area 8, and a third near area 13.
For optimum results, I recommend starting at the base camp near area 1. Exit the hub area and head south towards the beehives located near area 1. Then, proceed east to the riverside beehives in area 8, and finally, travel south to the oasis in area 13. Simply mark each location as a waypoint, and use your Seikret to auto-run from one spot to another.
Utilizing the Filter Icons feature on your map (press right on the D-Pad) allows you to quickly browse available resources in the area.
Once I learned these locations, it took me about four minutes to complete a “honey run.” Remember that Honey respawns every 15 minutes, so you’ll need to wait a bit after each farming session. There’s plenty of time to embark on a hunt or explore other areas for more Honey farming between runs.
Keep in mind that Honey is only plentiful in these areas during the season of Plenty. This can shift during significant story events, and it may randomly change after you’ve finished the main campaign. While Honey will still spawn in these main locations during the season of Fallow, it’s best to schedule your honey runs during the Plenty season for the best yields. The current season is displayed in the upper-left corner of your map.
Other Ways to Gather Honey in Monster Hunter Wilds
Farming in the Scarlet Forest
If you’re looking for alternatives, you can also gather some Honey in the Scarlet Forest, although it won’t compare to what you find in the Windswept Plains. The beehives here are dispersed, requiring you to wander across the entire map to accumulate a similar amount of Honey, resulting in longer runs.
There’s a reasonable concentration of Honey around area 16 in the Scarlet Forest, but aside from that, the hives are quite spread out. Your best strategy is to use the Filter Icons, hop on your Seikret, and repeatedly ride around to collect all the Honey available on the map.
Is Honey Found in Other Areas?
Honey can be discovered in nearly every region of Monster Hunter Wilds, but it’s particularly abundant in the Plains and the Forest. The lush foliage and plentiful water in these areas provide the perfect environment for bees. In contrast, regions like the Oilwell Basin offer a less hospitable environment for insects, so while you might occasionally encounter a hive there, it won’t be a reliable hunting ground.
Some areas are simply too small to hold beehives. For instance, Wyveria and the Wounded Hollow don’t contain any Honey because they are primarily designed as battle arenas for Large Monsters; hence, they don’t cater to resource gathering.
Still, if you know where to search, accumulating a substantial amount of Honey is straightforward. As long as you maintain a vigilant eye wherever you venture, even through less honey-heavy areas, you’ll likely gather enough to carry you through your adventures in Monster Hunter Wilds.
