With the new season, Apex Legends has introduced balancing changes that significantly alter the gameplay, a trend we hope continues in future updates. Last season emphasized a support meta, which was highlighted in the patch notes as "Season 23: The Season of Supports!" This season appears to be shifting the focus toward the Assault class.
But what does this mean for the other Legends? With the recent nerfs to the Support class, how do they stack up? To help clarify these changes, we’ve put together a tier list for this season’s Legends. Let’s break down our ranking criteria first.
How Our Ranking Was Determined
There are five Classes of Legends, each containing several characters that fulfill specific roles (Supports assist the team, Skirmishers excel in agility and aggression, etc.). Each Class provides unique perks that enhance their effectiveness in their designated role, which is crucial for their overall potential.
In Split 1, no new Legends were added, bringing us to 26 Legends to evaluate. Here are the key factors we considered for the tier list:
- Versatility of abilities in Battle Royale settings
- Alignment with their intended role
- Perks offered by their Class
- Impact of upgrades on overall performance
- Changes in potential from early-game to late-game
It’s important to note that this tier list isn’t definitive. Playstyle can greatly influence a player’s performance with different Legends, so this is more of a guide for those exploring new options or seeking Legends with strong combat capabilities.
The developers have buffed many Legends this season, leading to a situation where any character is a viable choice. Consequently, our tier list will consist of four streamlined tiers, rather than the usual five or six. Here’s how they break down:
Tier | Summary |
---|---|
S Tier | Legends with the highest potential. These characters are undeniably strong in nearly any situation and provide unique advantages to the team. |
A Tier | Great picks that significantly help the team. Most Legends strive to be in this tier to avoid giving unfair advantages. |
B Tier | Balanced characters that require skill to unlock their full potential. These Legends can compete well but necessitate practice and awareness. |
C Tier | These picks may feel weaker but can still perform well in the right hands. However, they lack the edge needed to be recommended currently. |
S Tier
As expected, this tier is reserved for the elite Legends. This season represents a refreshing change in balance, leading to fewer Legends qualifying for the S tier, which is excellent news. A more exclusive S tier implies that many characters are more closely matched in power, putting more emphasis on a player’s individual style. Here are the standout choices:
Name | Class | Description |
---|---|---|
Ash | Assault | Ash makes a mark this season with her remarkable dash and enhanced abilities, making her a formidable opponent on the battlefield. |
Lifeline | Support | Despite nerfs to the Support class, Lifeline remains a vital asset for her healing abilities and quick revives, ensuring the survival of her teammates. |
Ballistic | Assault | Ballistic has experienced a resurgence this season with buffs that enhance both Care Package weapons and regular weapons, making him a strong contender in early and late-game circumstances. |
A Tier
The A tier is for solid choices that excel in various scenarios without appearing overly dominant. This tier features a blend of characters and is worth exploring for players searching for suitable Legends that align with their play style.
Name | Class | Description |
---|---|---|
Mad Maggie | Assault | Known for her chaotic playstyle, Mad Maggie shines this season by breaking enemy cover and providing a strategic advantage to her team. |
Fuse | Assault | Fuse excels at area control and combat maintenance, complementing his offensive capabilities. |
Mirage | Support | A master of chaos, Mirage can confuse enemies during critical moments, although he may struggle in earlier battles. |
Loba | Support | Loba continues to provide valuable loot and escape options for her team, remaining viable despite subtle nerfs. |
Newcastle | Support | Newcastle is a traditional Support powerhouse, excelling as a protector who can keep his team shielded during fights. |
Horizon | Skirmisher | Horizon remains a top-tier Skirmisher, still highly useful although evenly matched against newly buffed Legends. |
B Tier
The B tier welcomes Legends that are viable and well-rounded but may require more player skill to maximize their effectiveness. This tier contains many of the game’s roster, offering a sense of balance.
Name | Class | Description |
---|---|---|
Crypto | Recon | While the role of Recon has less significance in today’s game, Crypto stands out with his unique abilities that can still make a difference in combat. |
Gibraltar | Support | Gibraltar remains strong with excellent defensive capabilities, although he might lack versatility compared to higher-tier characters. |
Wraith | Skirmisher | A classic choice, Wraith is known for her balanced role that rewards player skill, retaining her value in competitive play. |
Revenant | Skirmisher | Although more suited for aggressive playstyles, Revenant is less supportive of his team, requiring a specific approach to shine effectively. |
Pathfinder | Skirmisher | Pathfinder still boasts great mobility, though recent changes have affected his overall viability. |
Wattson | Controller | Wattson excels in securing areas but struggles in the current meta, which favors aggressive playstyles over defensive ones. |
C Tier
Finally, we arrive at the C tier, where fewer Legends find themselves. Though they may not be as strong as others, skillful players can still unlock their potential. However, they may not fit the current meta effectively.
Name | Class | Description |
---|---|---|
Conduit | Support | Recently, Conduit has struggled due to shifts in healing dynamics, limiting her effectiveness in controlling areas. |
Valkyrie | Recon | Valkyrie needs significant buffs to enhance her current standing, as her abilities require precise execution to be useful. |
Bloodhound | Recon | Bloodhound remains a solid choice, but many of his strengths are overshadowed by other Legends with more versatile kits. |
Caustic | Controller | While still capable, Caustic faces challenges in the current meta that limit his effectiveness in controlling areas. |
Seer | Recon | Unfortunately, Seer’s current state leaves him lacking viable options for impactful contributions, making him the least favorable pick this season. |
In summary, while each Legend has its strengths, player skill and teamwork ultimately determine success in Apex Legends. Explore different characters to discover which ones resonate with your unique playstyle!
