As you play Dispatch, a story-driven game with many choices, your gameplay will be occasionally interrupted by your job, which involves sending heroes to handle emergencies around the city. You have a team of heroes to send out, and who you choose depends on your decisions. Their success relies on their stats, which vary for each hero.
Overall, managing these emergencies is fairly simple because the heroes’ stats can be adjusted over time. However, each hero has specific abilities that can make them more effective, so it’s important to keep a close eye on some heroes and improve their stats to match their special skills.
Overview
You can send out ten different heroes during your play, but not all at the same time: Coupé, Flambae, Golem, Invisigal, Malevola, Phenomaman, Prism, Punch Up, Sonar, and Water Boy. Each hero has five stats—combat, intelligence, vigor, charisma, and mobility—and unique abilities that can be unlocked through training with Blonde Blazer. When they train, you choose which skills they will learn.
To evaluate their usefulness, we look at their initial stats and special abilities. Keep in mind that their performance can vary from one episode to another based on the story’s context.
S Tier
Heroes in this top category are exceptional. Flambae and Coupé can both fly, giving them an advantage in travel and access to exclusive airborne missions.
- Flambae excels in combat and mobility. His abilities improve his performance each time he succeeds, which lets him build streaks of success.
- Coupé is also fast and can retry failed calls. Her flying ability helps speed up missions, and her skill to retry calls makes her more reliable.
Punch Up is a strong choice because he cannot be knocked down. This makes him perfect for risky calls, and one of his abilities makes him more effective when injured, meaning failing a call might help him and make future missions easier.
Prism can duplicate other heroes, boosting their stats during difficult missions, which increases your chances of success. Her high charisma also makes her excellent for social interactions right from the start.
Invisigal is valuable because she’s quick in travel and can handle minor problems rapidly when alone, thanks to her well-rounded stats. This helps you clear small issues fast, keeping your main heroes available for tougher calls.
A Tier
These heroes are very good, with solid initial stats and useful abilities.
- Sonar can transform into two forms, making him effectively two different heroes — though you can’t control the change. He can fly occasionally, reattempt calls, and quickly rest when in bat form, which allows him to carry a non-flying hero with him and speed up missions.
- Malevola is a flexible, all-round hero. She has decent stats but can be customized to fit your team’s needs. Her healing ability helps during calls, although it might become less necessary as your team improves.
- Golem is versatile and easy to upgrade for various tasks. You can boost his strength when he’s alone, which can be very useful on certain missions, especially when other heroes are available to leave behind.
B Tier
These heroes are still decent but generally require additional upgrades to reach their full potential.
- Water Boy starts off weak, with poor stats and limited initial usefulness. However, he’s easy to level up and can be turned into whatever your team lacks most. His ability to boost the highest stat on a call helps balance out tough missions, despite his early disadvantages.
- Phenomaman has the best starting stats in the game, with quick rest times, making him very powerful initially. His high risks, however, mean if he fails or misses a call, he gets depressed and needs a long rest before returning. An upgrade can eliminate this gamble, making him more reliable but less flashy.
Notable notes include that characters like Flambae and Coupé are valuable because they can fly, providing territory access and quick moves. Punch Up’s immunity to being knocked down makes him ideal for unstable situations. Prism’s ability to double hero stats and her social skills make her versatile for tough calls. Invisigal’s speed and balanced stats allow her to resolve minor issues quickly, freeing your main heroes for difficult missions. Meanwhile, characters like Malevola and Golem can be tailored to fill gaps in your team, though they might need enhancements early on.
Characters such as Water Boy and Phenomaman are designed to be more challenging initially but serve as powerful assets once upgraded. Water Boy’s growth potential allows him to adapt to your needs, despite starting off weak, while Phenomaman’s high starting stats make him an immediate threat but with some risk involved.
