As you dive into Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and check out the main menu, you’ll immediately notice the profile section. Here, you’ll find details about the unique villagers you encounter throughout your adventure, organized into two segments.
The first section highlights all the characters available for romance, while the second features those you can build bonds with—like Suzu. While she may not be a romantic option, increasing your bond with her still offers numerous advantages, especially if you present her with thoughtful gifts.
Suzu: Overview and Where to Find Her
After completing the prologue of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and selecting your character, you’ll awaken in Spring Village to embark on your journey and discover the mysteries of Azuma. Shortly after stepping outside your home shrine, you’ll meet several intriguing villagers, one of whom is the adorable Suzu.
Suzu is Iroha’s younger sister, and since their parents have passed, they live with Sakaki. Upon your initial meeting, Suzu will be delighted but you won’t be able to deepen your bond with her just yet. You’ll need to first address the crisis affecting Spring Village and eliminate the initial blight.
Once you can start bonding with Suzu, finding her on the map may be a challenge. As a child, Suzu tends to sleep in, unlike most villagers who are up and about in the morning. To spot her, either skip ahead a few hours or wait until noon.
At that point, you can usually see Suzu leaving her house and enjoying the village. Initially, she can often be found near Iroha’s Restaurant, but as you explore more, you might also find her at Yachiyo’s Restaurant in Autumn Village or sitting on benches in Summer Village.
Gifts and Hangouts to Increase Your Bond with Suzu
During your time with Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, the profile section will be your frequent stop. This is because the bond system is vital; it not only enables relationships with romanceable characters but also unlocks various skills during combat when you take these characters with you.
To raise your bond with Suzu, consider these options: present her Plum Branches, chat with her each day, complete her specific requests, or spend time together. Of these, hanging out is your best approach, as it can yield up to 24 bond points in a single day if you choose the right gifts.
The amount of bond you gain from different hangout activities varies based on the time spent and the overall enjoyment of the event with Suzu. Here are some of the top gifts and interactions that will help maximize your bond:

Suzu’s Role in Combat
Characters with a cyan bar in their profile are non-romanceable, and upgrading your bond level with them primarily benefits combat. Once you reach level one with Suzu, you can take her into battle.
She serves as a support character, generally avoiding direct attacks on enemies. However, increasing her bond level unlocks various skills that aid allies:
Bond Level | Effect Unlocked |
---|---|
1 | Grants the Superstar Guard skill, negating all enemy damage. |
2 | Unlocks High Spirits, which boosts an ally’s attack. |
3 | Provides Inspiring Words, enhancing an ally’s defense. |
4 | Introduces Rookie Dango, removing status effects from allies. |
5 | Grants Lucky Cheer, increasing the crit rate for allies. |
6 | Unlocks Cheerleader, boosting attack for all allies. |
7 | Provides Superstar Dango, healing a small amount of HP. |
8 | Unlocks Steadfast Support, increasing defense for all. |
9 | Grants Revive, allowing her to restore an ally’s health. |
10 | Unlocks Godsend, raising crit rates for all allies. |
